Saabs can be prone to floating ground issues in some of the light fixtures. My older one had this happen in particular, when the ground plane in the tail light cluster rusted and isolated the ground on a bunch of lights. It turned into a bypass where brakes, blinkers, emergency, all would make all the lights flash kind of dimly.

You should be able to remove the rear light clusters from inside the trunk. Look and see if there is corrosion, or signs that the ground plane - should look like a large scale printed circuit board, is damaged. Clean it off with a wire brush. if the ground plane is broken, you'll want to either get a replacement base plane, or, if you re-connect the ground, use some heavy wire to solder it back into connection so that it can handle the current for the lights.

I hope this might help!

I just purchased a 1999 Dodge Avenger, the headlights are not coming on, the license plate light also..... All my other lights work, backlights, backup lights, blinkers (front and rear), hazards........

The headlight fuses are in the cabin. Not sure where, but start looking under the dash on driver sude. The box may have a cover.
else, look for a panel cover in the pillars. The licence plate light is probably burned out, as it runs on the same circuit as the running lights.

Tracing down a short causing my dash lights and my tail lights to not work after a near lightning strike ?

The running lights and dash lights are on the same circuit. The brake lights and turn signals are on their own circuit. You need to use a 12v test light to see where the circuit is broken, starting at the fuse, then the headlight switch, then the dash harness.(If the headlights work, you at least know the headlight switch is getting power).

Headlights flashing at blinker speed

Flickering headlights can get you a ticket to the policeman's ball, but more importantly, they may indicate trouble inside your car. This problem can result from many potential causes, but whatever the reason, you must identify and address it before your lights go out altogether.

Turn signals quit working??

Good place to start is to check bulbs. Also, have multifunction switch and its circuits tested. The multifunction switch is the blinker arm, and the components it attaches to inside the steering column. Usually tied in with things like high beams, headlight dimmer/daytime running lights, wipers, cruise, etc.

1995 mote carlo ls headlights come on, but parking lights wont, neither will dash lights? Checked all fuses, but not relays.

If you'vegot headlights, brake lights and blinkers, but no park or tail lights and no dash lights, it's time to replace the headlight switch. Hopethis helps.

Dash and running lights does not work, everything

The fuse to the taillights/running lights?
It can't be a grounding problem if both taillights and dash don't work.
If only taillights don't work, it would be suspicious grounding.

Headlights

The only thing that all of your problems have in common is the light switch and the dash wiring harness. The stereo is linked to the light switch because of it's illumination feature' You need to test the light switch with a test light by probing the wires at it's plug.
