The ABS carries out a self-test when the ignition is switched on. If no faults are found the light will go out. If the light stays on it means a fault has been discovered, recorded and the ABS will be switched off.
To rectify this condition the fault will have to be identified by a code read, the fault repaired and the fault code erased.
TCS light will be on to notify you when it is on/off..ABS light should not stay on while driving...if this occurs, there is a problem with your ABS system
Hi, Change the switch - it's above the brake pedal. That will probably account for the ABS light and the brake lights being stuck. Note that you may have more than one ABS issue, and if the light stays on you'll want to have that system scanned by someone with the proper test system for that reason. Thank You for contacting Fixya.com
You most likely need to replace your brake switch, which is a
a $8 part. If you look up along the brake peddle you will see it depressing a switch. on the end of that switch is a electrical connector that you can press on one side to remove.
Once removed your brake lights will be disconected and your ABS
light should go off. You then need to replace the switch that it pluged in to.
It could be that changing the switch told the ABS there was a fault. Try removing the fuse for the ABS and waiting 5 minutes for it to reset. ---I had a small ABS issue with my Volvo and the ABS fuse had blown. Good luck-- and if this helped can you give a rating?
Just a idea. If the car is running at idle and the oil light blinks , it usually from low oil pressure. At a idle your seeing the light respond to the revolutions of the engine. ! thing to try is to replace the oil pressure switch on the engine block. And #2, Most causes in a VW is that the vehicle overheated at one time and weekend the oil pump,or massive amount of miles.
Hi, You should check for a sligt break fluid leak from the break light switch (attacked to the master cylinder). Yeah, I know this seems strange, but on my 2001 this leak caused all types of problems with lots of dashboard indicators. The leaking switch was a recall for Ford Trucks, but not the minivans. Hope this helps
