I may have a broken cable on a stuck open sunroof, can i manually close it, on a 2003 chevy impala?

No, you can't. Broken cable is a regulator replacement. You have to remove the headliner. Remove all the side bezels first. They just pop off.

THE ELECTRIC DRIVE SYSTEM FOR POWER SUNROOF IS NOT ADJUSTABLE.DONT REMOVE THE SUNROOF MOTOR UNLESS THE SUNROOF IS COMPLETELY CLOSED.OTHERWISE A NEW MOTOR WILL HAVE TO BE INSTALLED AND TIMED WITH A TOOL THAT COMES WITH THE NEW MOTOR.THE GLASS PANEL CAN BE ADJUSTED.OPEN THE INTERIOR SUNSHADE ALL THE WAY BACK AND OPERATE THE SUNROOF UNTIL FULLY CLOSED.THERE ARE THREE GLASS MOUNTING SCREWS ON EACH SIDE OF THE SUNROOF OPENING.INSIDE THE VECHICLE LOOSEN THE SCREWS SET THE FRONT EDGE OF THE GLASS TO BE JUST 1MM BELOW THE SURFACE OF THE ROOF.ADJUST THE GLASS AT THE REAR EDGE TO BE JUST ABOVE 1MM THE ROOF AT THE REAR TIGHTEN THE SCREWS.

Sorry, no. Pull down on the headliner at the front of the window and you can see the motor. Cable is most likely broke or motor bad. Remove all the columns front, middle, and back. Remove the headliner. Then you can access the motor and regulator for the sunroof. The columns and headliner just pop off.

No there isn't. You can do what the other guy said, reinitialize it. But if it just stoped working, it could be the motor or the regulator. Either one you have to replace the whole unit. To do this you have to remove the headliner, which also you have to remove all the column bezels. They just pop off. Be careful with the headliner, as it will break. Made out of cardboard.

It can be faulty motor or loose wiring issue or faulty /weak sunroof controlling switch or there is some blockage for sunroof to come down to close or sunroof out of its track the headliner is out of its way.There re many possibilities.All this basics needs to be checked.For further troubleshooting,go through this help link:----

small cover on older models front center of headliner,motor for roof has a cam that controls operation.I assume fuses were checked..two small switches are riding on this cam.plastic cam messes up switches.you may have to remove headliner to access motor/cam assy.if cables are broken, stuck, assembly may have to be replaced..

Sunroof will not close
In my experience this is not an easy fix, the Sunroof rail is either broken or the sunroof has jumped the track because of a foreign object or misalignment. Either way unless you know how to take the sunroof apart I would take it to the shop.

Sun Roof Stuck open
tilt the sunroof into vent position as far as possible then press and hold the same switch for 30 seconds until you see it move release the switch and immediately press and hold it again the sunroof will close and open fully then close again do not release the button until it reaches the closed position for the second time.

Check for a blown fuse first if ok, check for power at the switch if ok, it could be the motor. Some models have a manual closing system with a turnkey check your user manual.
