Do you have a picture of an Isuzu UBS25 Trooper motor and trans coupled to the unit that selects the 4WDH, 4WDL, 2WDH? I need it because I may have damaged the selectors or linkages when I jacked up the transmission from underneath to create room to replace the CTS. The vehicle has been stuck in 4WDH ever since.
A 1992 anything that still runs?
is amazing...
photos here are rare for any Isuzu,
try googling ?
did you look at isuzu. i did and fails....
transfer case shift linkage its called
why not photo yours first. showing what you have.
we cant guess what driveline options are there. ever.
stick shift main box or the slush pump auto.?
the quotes:
"The transfer cases in 1991-96 models do utilize a control computer, however it is integral with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and is not individually removable. For servicing procedures of the PCM, refer to Section 4."
the this for 92
The transfer cases covered by this manual do not utilize a shift motor. Engagement of the transfer case and selection of the transfer gears is performed with the transfer gear shift lever inside the passenger's compartment.
the real oem parts page sells no linkages now.
so no photos there.
remove the shifter, 4wd
then put the xfr case into 2h by hand
does that work, then the shifter is bent. (links)
easy peasy japaneezy
SOURCE: how do I check the transmission fluid of my 98 Isuzu trooper ?
In fact, you can. The large transmission pan has two plugs in the bottom. The higher one is a fill plug. The lower one is a drain plug. The proper procedure for checking the level is: A) Drive vehicle until transmission reaches operating temperature (go for a 30 min drive). B) Park vehicle and apply emergency brake, run gear selector through all gears (engine running, pausing 5 sec.'s in each gear) from Park, down, and back to Park (very important to be in park when checking level). C) Immediately remove the upper fill plug and check level with your finger, it should be just up to the hole, fill as necessary. NOTE: If more than a dribble of fluid drains out when you first open the fill plug then it was overfilled or the procedure was not followed. Use a catch pan under the hole just in case. Filling of the fluid is by means of a small pump and hose, commonly found at auto parts stores.

The 1998 Isuzu Trooper is identical to the 1996 & 1997 Troopers with the 3.2L V6 motor. Chilton-Haynes have a decnet and detailed manual for this car. It's available on Amazon.com. That's where I got mine!

Hello smeet3992: The transmission uses 5w-30 for tempretures up to 95 degreese in tempreture. Uses 15w-40 for all tempretures greater then 50 degreese. If you are in an area that has extreme fluctuation in tempretures I would use the 15w-4o engine oil. I also senrt a picture of where to check the oil at. Make sure you pull the right plug. The reverse idler pin has the same size bolt head.

If the fluid is up -
it could be a vacume loss or the shifting module..
The shifting module is what tells it to shift - and it is controled by vacume pressure..
