My 2000 Ford Explorer drivers side door will not unlock with the key fob, the number strip on the door, or with the key in the key slot. All the other doors will unlock using the key fob. What is the problem with the driver side door lock?
It sounds like a plastic clip on the lock cylinder mechanism that holds the lock unlock rod has broken inside the door you can hear the power lock function when you do the remote or the keyless entry ? also the actual door lock mechanism on the back of the door could have broken to this is inside also and is the part that the door uses to lock onto the door post
Try oiling the key and lock or change the lock
Not sure if lock has solenoid or electric motor, but either way, can you hear clicks or any prominent sounds from the door whilst trying to unlock it? you may need to put your ear on the door, if no sound, then wiring needs to be checked, then motor or solenoid, if you do hear similar sounds to the other door then the mechanical part of the lock mechanism has failed and may require a kit or replacement.

dont blame the idiot,we all make stupid mistakes without thinking and iam no exception, remove door trim and oil the solonoid with a oil can not a silly sunday mechanic spray and let it soak in as its working but i think its just a bit sticky with wear and dirt ingress hence it locks but doesnt unlock which might need a bit more power, oil the whole lot lock and all

the door lock actuator is defective, they get really hard to move when they go bad, that is why the difficulty with the key.

Which is it, 98 Eclipse, or 06 Impala? Either way, your door lock actuator is stuck in the locked position either electrically or mechaically. The way to check this is to remove the door panel and unplug the actuator. If door lock can now be moved then you have an electrical problem (faulty door lock switch or faulty door lock module). If you still cannot unlock door then actuator is mechanically bad and must be replace (usually the case)

more than likely the lock solenoid in the driver side door is not working. it located near the latch inside the door.
