You will have to check fuel pressure and volume. can you hear the pump run, when was the fuel filter last changed. are the injectors working.

it should be under the car close to the driver side door. if you can't see it trace it from the fuel tank it should be attached to the fuel line. if you have the repolacement in your hand you will know what you're looking for

self diagnosis on side of ecu located in passenger side kick panel should be a flat head screw turn key to on position turn screw to self diag watch the red and green blinks ,, also any leak between the maf and throttle body will cause a poor or no idle

Is the hold/normal/power button on the dash is in the hold position that is what it will seem like because that is what it does, holds in second gear for ice and snow starts.
So make sure the button is in the normal (middle) or Power position (right side pressed in).

If you can not duplicate the problem on demand, it will be very difficult to find and know that it is fixed.
Do you know if you have lost spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors when it is hard to start ?
There is a long list of choices, including a faulty relay, fuel pump, ignition module, coil, and so on.
You have to know if it is a fuel or ignition problem to proceed.

I have a 1992 olds 88 when it is warm driving down the road it cuts out and when you let up on accelerator it picks back up
1. If you floor it when it acts like this and it runs correctly you can eliminate a fuel problem, it may be the throttle position sensor . 2. if not test for 45 psi lbs of fuel pressure, if you have it, I would start looking at the catalytic converter

I no what your problem is!! Your catalytic converter's are plugged!! Thats it brother! I had the same problem. Pull your 02 sensor's out on the manifold's and that will tell you if that's it. Let me no if this is it
