I assume you have kids and that's why you want to lock it and keep it secured either your kids jammed something in that ignition switch and messed something up. So I would take a good flash light and peer down into that key ignition hole and see if anything is blocked in there. if so or a bad ignition switch, you need disconnect the battery and remove the bottom dash plate from the steering wheel and you will have to disconnect the ignition cable from the ignition switch and take out the ignition by unscrewing the securing screws that hold that ignition in, best to get a mechanic book made for that make and model.

Are you using the original key that came with the car? The chip in that key may have gone bad. Try using the spare key that should have come with the purchase of the car. You may also be having battery issues. If all else fails....call the people who really know how to rape you...DUM Dum dummmmm....the dealer

SOURCE: 2006 chevy trailblazer will not start/turn over,

Sounds like the starter is the culprit, when the brushes in it are almost gone they will work intermittently and if the brushes aren't touching then you won't even get a click because of the lack of ground for the pull in portion of the starter solenoid winds. The next time it won't start, give the starter a tap or two to confirm this.It should start if i'm right. The starter is under the passengers side just to the rear of the front tire, bolted to the bell housing.

2014 frontier stering and ignition locked tried wiggkling wheel while turning key nothing

If your 2014 Frontier's steering and ignition are locked and wiggling the wheel while turning the key does not unlock it, there are a few possible causes and solutions you can try:
  1. Dead battery: If the battery is dead or low on power, it can cause the steering wheel lock to engage and prevent the key from turning. Try jump-starting the vehicle or replacing the battery to see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Faulty ignition switch: The ignition switch may be faulty and not responding to the key, preventing it from turning. You may need to replace the ignition switch to resolve the issue.
  3. Damaged steering column: The steering column may be damaged or worn, preventing the steering lock from disengaging. In this case, you may need to replace the steering column or have it repaired by a qualified mechanic.
  4. Malfunctioning lock cylinder: The lock cylinder itself may be malfunctioning or damaged, preventing the key from turning. You may need to replace the lock cylinder to resolve the issue.

I need to change ignition switch on my Chevy Colorado

The ignition switch should be located at the lower part of the steering column and is actuated by the key cylinder. It is difficult to replace (made hard for thieves to get at it).

We have a 1989 toyota camry the key will not turn to start the car. It has a button on top of the stering column to release the key when you turn the car off and normally when you put the key in you have...

Hi
Sounds like the ignition barrel has failed.
If you replace any part you must ensure that the key and the transducer ring are matched. If not, the immobiliser will come on and you will never start the car.
Get a diagnostic test to verify the immobiliser is turning off.

My 2006 Chevy Cobalt steering wheel has locked and i dont know how to unlock it. I can't even turn the key when i put it in the ignition

sounds like your steering column lock is binding you need to slightly turn the steering one way or the other while turning the key at the same time. this happens if the steering wheel is turned after removing the key. or when parked against a curb.

2006 chevy colorado passlock comes on and stays on, truck won't start for 10+ min. Can I disable this feature?

No, it can not be disabled.
The theft system is indicating a short term theft issue.
Have you added any "after market" remote start systems or alarms?
If NO.
Insert the key in the ignition, turn the key to run position ( do not start ) and leave it in that position for 10 minutes. Cycle the key to LOCK position, count to 10, then turn the key back to run position and leave on for 10 more minutes. After the 10 minutes is up, repeat the procedure (1) more time and the security system will relearn the PASS code.
Give it a try and let me know.

Steering column locked

When you get the key into the ignition, Try turning the wheel to one side or the other as you turn the key. Some vehicle's steering columns will "lock" if the wheel is turned to tightly when the ignition gets turned off. Hope that helps.
