SOURCE: diagram on a pontiac grand prix

I have 07 Pontiac Grand Prix, the wrong key was inserted into the ignition the other day. Now when I try to use the correct key it will not insert completly in the ignition, goes in until last 1/4in of key. Im stuck, I bought the new lock cylinder but how do I get the old one out? I cant get the key to insert all the way so I cant get it to the "On" position, it will not turn at all. The key that was inserted in error is whole and nothing is missing it seems like there is something stuck. Any help would be appreciated...

Not really a job for a non-mechanic. Column covers off, switches out of the way, wiring disconnected, column dropped down under the dash, bolts chiseled out, big job.

My key keeps getting stuck in the ignition of my 1999 grand prix

If you have a duplicate made, it could be more hooked then it should be; but then any locksmith should be able to deburr it or compare it with the original.
If it is the original that is getting stuck, try moving the steering wheel as you turn the key, because the steering lock may be binding. Remember the key has to be exactly in the right position in order to be able to remove it.

Ignition switch won't turn back to off to allow key to be removed

this is usually caused by the steering wheel. Try wiggling the steerung wheel while turning the key back to the "Lock" position.

CAR WONT START

if it is one with a chip in the key the best thing to do is go to the dealer and get another one made some of the better lock smiths can do it but the dealer can make one by the vin#. if it is not turning over you can put a push button on it and that will let the starter turn and allow the engine to start.
