I had the same problem with my 98. I pulled the door panel and found that the lock tabs on the switch bezel had broken off and allowing the switch assembly to fall into the door. I didn't feel like trying to find a replacement bezel so I used some small grey wire ties to hold the switch in place. The grey ties matched the interior color and you hardly know their there. That was many months ago and I haven't had a problem with it scene! Good luck with it!

How can I disassemble the driver's door to repair the power window without breaking it?

You have a major problem. Either the window regulator or the clips that hold the window on broke. My guess is the regulator because of the cable. To disassemble the door look for the screws holding the inner panel on remove them don't forget the one in the door pull and behind door handle. Carefully pry panel off remember there is some clips holding the panel on. Disconnect any wiring connection and carefully lift panel up towards top of door do not force. You will see a cover of some sort remove it. You are in door and should be able to see the problem

My passenger window will just fall down and when i hit my power window button you can hear the window motor moving..i havent taken the door panel off yet..any suggestions

psbowlchoker, Sounds like the window has fallen out of rail, When the glue or opoxy gets brittle it happens. The rail is moving witthout the window in it. Get your self some door panel tools and go for it. Also get the door panel buttons, no matter how careful you are they always get buggerd up somehow. Two part epoxy- metal-weld is the best bet to re attach the window to the rail. good luck

Front passenger window has fallen down into door

The window either came unattached from the window regulator or your power window motor's gears inside are stripped, either way you need to take the door panel off to diagnose the problem.

Rear power window has fallen off track on 2004 jeepcan the door panel be removed and replaced without special tools

Yes. But it is not as simple as putting the window back on track. Most new vehicles use a different type of regulator (not the old pinion and rack type gear. Most use a small motor that is attached to cables that raise and lower the window. Most often these cables break and the window falls. Pull the inner door panel off and you can verify. If it is the regulator, check out Amazon. Seem to have the best prices and warrantees. Good luck!

Door handle linkage disconnects

You'll have to remove the door panel, yes the whole thing, and look for any broken or missing parts in your door latch/lock linkage.Be careful not to break any wires that power your windows/locks while removing the panel. It may be just a plastic clip that holds the linkage together has fallen off.Check in the bottom of the door well for parts that may have fallen down there. A manual from the library or online is a big help here.

DOOR PANEL

Most likely some kind of repair to the door panel will be needed, they should'nt have fallen out, so it is best to remove the panel, it only takes about 5 minutes, worked on 100's of Mustangs like yours, that was an average time.
