SOURCE: were is the egr valve located for mazda rotege5

2002 Mazda Protege5 with the FS2.0 Motor. The EGR Valve is located below the throttle-body. You must take off the Intake tube to get a good view of it. To replace it I think you might have to take off the throttle-body.

The problem is no one cleans the EGR ports, they get plugged with carbon so a new valve doesn't fix the problem so remove and clean the valve and ports before replacing the valve. I hope this helps. Take care.

I have a mazda protege 1.6 year 2000 the egr valve is open at all time i test a close one but the engine start to vibraye to much

Make sure the EGR ports aren't clogged with carbon. It can completely clog ports. EGR shouldn't be open at IDLE, but it will open upon accelerating.

401 egr system insufficient flow detected

If the EGR valve is electrically operated, check for its wiring connector to be connected and test the wiring for opens or shorts. If the wiring checks out, the EGR valve may be faulty.

If the EGR valve is vacuum operated, check that the vacuum diaphragm of the valve is intact and not leaking. If the diaphragm won't hold a vacuum, replace the EGR valve.

2000 mazda 626 engine light is on took it to the dealer found an egr valve problem they "fix" it light went on again took it back they check it found that the manifold was bad "fix" it...

do you see if the manifold was cracked? usually the problem is not just the egr valve it has a modulator it is either electronic or vacum controlled, now the right way to check or the first thing to do is if there is vacum at the valve and from there check to see if there is vacum at the egr valve only wheren you rev the engine aroun 2000 to 2500 rpm , but i suggest you not to rev the engine at this rate too long if the valve opens thne the next thing to do is remove the valve and makd sure that the egr port is not clogged up with carbon if it is plugged up you can just knock them off using a small screw driver or such and clean the passage with a wire brush and put the valve back always make sure that you put it back using a new egr valve gasket.

regarding the noise make sure that all other tubing that go from the exhaust manifold is not broken it is not just the muffler that is involved in the exhaust sys that keeps the noise down!!!
