Tools needed for replacing 2001 Hyundai Tiburon CV joints.

Hi, I have a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon and my cv joints are needing replaced. I am just going to do it myself with some help instead of putting it in the shop. About how long does it take? What tools are needed? Anything important I need to know before I begin? Thanks!!Lauren.

CV joints are not hard if you do some research. Get a shop manual first. You will need a good jack, two jack stands. I am not that fam. with the Hyundai, but some fwd cars have med/ large bearing retaining bolts so you will need 1/2 drive socket set up to say 33 mm. You will need a whole day or 2 to do this. set aside that much time in case of some road block. You have to pull both wheels and fender wells. On some cars you will have to pull the struts or the lower arms that hold them to the body to give room to pull out the cv assy. Do one at the time on some fwd's if you pull both the ring gears can fall out of sync and thats not good. Buy the complete cv axel rebuilt if you can. Work slow, take pictures as you go, be careful.

Need a drawing of how to install a cv boot and axle in a 01 hyundai tiburon step by step fast

does it make noise? if so, dont waste you rtime, replace the complete axle. take wheel off, take lower ball joint loose, take off big nut in middle of wheel hub, now push axle through while lifting the spindle up, notwthe axle will come out of hub, now you will need to pry the other end out to get it to come loose, there is a small clip holding it in. you should really have a person experienced do this, it should take maybe .5 -1.0 hr

CV Joints

I would not recommend doing this if you do not know what you are doing, as this requires dissassembly of the front brake and suspension system
