There should be 2 lines on the dipstick one near the bottom and one about an inch above it. the bottom line is the minimum level and the upper is the max level.

An image of oil on dash and next to it is min....what does it mean?????

The warning means you're low on oil and you need to top off the oil. Add about 1/4 quart of oil to the engine and check the dipstick. Add oil in 1/4 quart increments until the dipstick indicates the level correct. The dipstick on this car is hard to read, if you're uncertain about the level, just add oil in 1/4 quart increments until the warning goes off. If it goes off, then comes back after only a short time, then add 1/2 quart, and so on. These cars go through about a quart of oil every 5000 - 10000 miles normally (depending on various factors).

How do you add trans fluid?

You probably already know this but to save any confusion just in case you don't, There is a trans fluid dipstick in the engine compartment there are two dipsticks one is oil then (usually on the other side of oil dipstick) trans dipstick. The tube you take that dipstick out of to check the trans fluid level, put a funnel on that and dump it in there. Take extra caution not to over fill. Trans fluid expands as it heats. So if you check it cold there will look like a lot less than there is. Don't add when you have a measurement between low and high.

This oil can picture is lighting up in my BMW and i dont know what the symbol mean ?

Hi. This means that you need to check the oil level of your car.Pop up the hood and take out the dipstick from the engine and check if the oil is still in the correct level. You will need to add oil if its is not in the required level.

There are no markings on the dipstick to know where the acceptable level for the oil is on the 1996 Millinea. How do I know if I have enough oil?

Drain the crankcase oil into a clean container in which you are able to measure the amount. Replenish this amount up to the quantity stated in your hand book. Remove dipstick and fill the crancase with just this oil. Dip the oil level and using a scriber or a file, mark the dipstick at the level of the oil.
Notes:
1. The quanity of oil is the engine capaity less the oil filter.
2. You may wish to use clean new oil and fit a new filter. If so, use the fill capacity including the oil filter, or add about another pint.

Need to know how to check oil in transmition in a 95 ford aspire

Check the engine oil level every time you fill the gas tank. The car should be on level ground when checking the oil.
  1. Turn the car off and wait several minutes.
  2. Locate the engine oil dipstick and withdraw it from the tube.
  3. Wipe the dipstick with a clean rag and reinsert it in the dipstick tube.
  4. Remove the dipstick again, hold the dipstick horizontally and observe the level of the oil.

Fig. 1: Grasp the engine oil dipstick and withdraw it from the tube

Fig. 2: Observe the oil level on the dipstick and add oil if it is low

  1. The oil level should be at the FULL mark on the dipstick.
  2. If the level is at or near the LOW mark, replace the dipstick and add fresh oil to bring the level up to the FULL mark. Do not overfill.
  3. Recheck the oil level and close the hood.

Good luck, and remember rated this help!!!

CHECK OIL LEVEL FOR CAMRY

Hi, Here are a few steps to help you with this issue.

Step1 c0d5c2621e60088a1_thumb.jpg Make sure your car is level. Any angle can give a false reading. Warm the engine. TURN THE ENGINE OFF. Now wait for a while, to let the oil to come down to the pan.(5 minutes is enough) Now, find and pull out the oil dipstick. If you can't find oil dipstick, check the owner's manual. You will find it on the top of the engine with a brightly colored handle that says "Engine Oil. Step2 07cb03604f4a35b81_thumb.jpg Now pull the dipstick out of the engine and wipe off the oil on the stick. Be careful this oil will drip. Once the stick is clean reinsert it in the engine. Step3 a378a48854d5e3a81_thumb.jpg Now, pull the dipstick again and check the oil level. It should be at "FULL" or slightly below the "FULL" mark. If it's not below or at the "ADD OIL" mark its OK. It is good to top it. However, this is hard to do without overfilling. If you overfill, the engine will just kick out the excess oil and may leak it on your driveway. If you wait to the add oil mark, your engine will normally take one quart. Step4 Check the oil condition: If it's really black, it's time to change it. Normally you keep track of the mileage since last oil change. CHANGE YOUR OIL BASED ON, TIME IN ENGINE AND/OR MILAGE AS PER THE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. If it's slightly-brown, it's probably O.K.
If it's white (coffee or milk color) it means the engine has a problem. Coolant has mixed with the oil due to an internal engine problem, like a blown head gasket or worse. Call a mechanic. Step5 To top off the engine oil you need to know the oil brand and viscosity. Usually, indicated on the last oil change receipt. If you don't know this, it's best to change the oil and put in one brand.
Find the add oil cap. Again refer to the owners manually. It is usually labeled "ADD OIL" or "OIL"

Add a little amount of the oil. Wait for a minute to let the oil get to the pan. Again check the oil level. (steps 2 & 3) If it's still low, add some more. Don't overfill! Remember to reinstall the dipstick and oil filler cap when you're finished.

Please rate and god bless.
