About 2 weeks ago my inside fan on my a/c vent quit working all the time. Now it works about 1/3 time and when comes on it seems to be about half speed. I do have an EXT so my back a/c unit and fan are working fine. Just want to check and make sure if it might be blower motor before ordering and installing myself. Thanks for the help.
2014 post.? old post, its DC motor NOT A.c.
direct current, not alternating current motor.
no need to guess, use a voltmeter, and save lots of cash, for sure..... a $10 voltmeter works,.
first off there are 2 systems. manual and auto
which is it? (options day 1)
on this car you scan it, first. it has DTC errors
not to be ignored, if present.
let me answer for all car HVAC car owners.
it can be many things.
1: fuses blow (dead fan)
2: wires bad, cut, or melted or corroded (weak fan)
3: controller is bad.
4: the dampers not open fully.
5: if HVAC has fan resistor it can fail on low speeds but not high. (or fail only on high)
6: if the fuse on the left below is blown there will be no high speed, Fuse #35 blown. no high.
note how this unique car runs a relay just for high. see drawing below.
for sure the motor is last.
the fan can be hot wired, before removal
if passes that test its GOOD.
what matters is 12vdc (13.3 to 15v engine running)
to the fan.
and if only one speed fails, and not high say so
or if only high speed fails, say so.
as that set of symptoms is never a fan.
for sure if it runs ok on high.,
so fuses first.'
then the relay if high fail.s.
it don't work like most cars, not at all.
that is but 1, options , climate control was other. (automatic system)

Before you touch any thing have an electrician check it as it may be a faulty start/run capacitor for that motor.
SOURCE: ac/heater blower motor issues
Replace the motor and resistor at the same time. A motor that has too much resistance will blow the resistor out every time. Been there done that. I've sold a lot of resistors and they had no warranty unless you replaced the motor too.

We had a similar problem . The resistor was burnt out, ( Can be fixed with a soldering iron) bit the fan was jammed . I aplied wd40 and slowly worked it by hand and it finally started to work again.. Saved me a rsisitor cost and a fan replacement. Good luck, Joe
SOURCE: 1994 heater blower fan/motor will not work.checked
heater blower needs to be replaced try a scrap yard very minimal cost
SOURCE: 97 Isuzu Rodeo. Blower doesn't
Have you checked the blower motor fuse and the blower motor relay? check the fuse 1st, use a test light and have the engine running, if the fuse is good check the blower motor relay it is located under the dash to righ of the steering cloumn tap on it with the blower turned on, see if all at once the blower turns on.
SOURCE: Blower motor or switch
If the blower motor works on high, the resistor is the fault. Check condition of wire harness when you replace the resistor, if there is any corrosion on the connectors in the harness- replace that section of harness as well, otherwise you will likely have another failed resistor and potentially have a fire hazard as the corroded terminals heat up and current draw through the wire increases as well.
