How do I check if my parking brake is on? How do I bleed my rear brakes?

I replaced the rear brake pads and now the brakes are dragging. Could my parking brake be stuck? Do my brakes need bleed?

SOURCE: BRAKE PADS

OK Jin, 1st I'd like to know if u know what kind of shape the brake pads are in, are they wearing evenly, (inner and outer, and both wheels) are they grinding metal on metal? If everything is wearing evenly, and u haven't gotten to the point of metal pads (brake lining worn off) grinding on the rotors, u can probably get away w/ just changing the pads, although to do a quality job, you should also remove the brake rotors, have them cut (ground down perfectly smooth and flat) by an auto shop (about $18 each in my area), and bleed the brake system to flush out the old fluid so u have new fluid in the system. You also may need calipers if break pads are not wearing evenly. Let me know condition of brake pads and other above questions, and I can give u more info. I'll be on the road tomorrow for 15+ hours tomorrow, so be patient for a reply! countrycurt0

SOURCE: 92 dodge van rear ABS-brake and ABS lights on/can't reset?

Its probably how your bleeding your brakes, but first make sure the bleeding nipples are facing upward. You should bleed diagonaly, front pass wheel then rear driver wheel. Then front driver wheel and rear pass wheel. The abs light has its own computer your have to get it scanned to clear the codes and turn off the light

SOURCE: bleed brakes

I dont understand your question are you wanting to bleed your brakes? you need to people to do this ..... one person to press on the petal while you have the brake hose pointing into a jar or container to catch the brake fluid this will take any air out of the line .... start at the back brakes and make you way to the front .....but you have to keep replacing your brake fuild in the master cylinder to full or you'll be bleeding nothing out the lines and off setting your brakes. keep your brake fuild at mid level in the master cyclinder at all times. Hope this helped

Why does my brakes feel like they are dragging after I replaced the brake pads?

DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. You have air in the brake lines. Have your vehicle towed into a repair shop. Let a professional handle brake repairs. You obviously don't have a clue as to what you are doing. You are placing others in danger with your ill repaired vehicle.

I replaced the brake pads on the rear of my 1999 Olds Bravada. We didn't bleed the brakes because we didn't feel that we had compromised them. Now the brakes are dragging and it seem

Replace the calipers my friend. Corrosion on the caliper pistons is holding the brakes on causing the drag. That rubber boot over the piston doesn't seal from condensation and makes surface rust/corrosion and won't allow the pistons to release all pressure.

Right side rear brake drags

Remove all rust from pad and caliper sliding surfaces,eg metal to metal, not the pins, they get synthetic brake lube. Apply anti-seize to all sliding surfaces. Make sure you can screw in the rear caliper piston,if applicable, and manually ratchet up the parking brake, after caliper and pads are on. Bleed/Flush all 4 Wheels. Make sure you can slide the pads back and forth, before lubing end tabs. You may need to file a little off the ends or just remove the paint. Make sure parking brake cables are really releasing.

How do I bleed the front brakes on a 2004 audi a4 quattro?

For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!! For front brake pads. First you must verify yours front brake disc diameter: 280 mm or 288 mm. (On my car y have 288 mm). After that you can buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!

2004 buick park ave. rt front brake drags, gets hot! caliper replaced, twice! brake hoses replaced, new master cylinder cap and gasket, bled all fluid from system, and replaced with new. seems to drag on...

THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM COULD BE THE CULPRIT HERE. YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP OR DEALER AND HAVE THEM DO A PRESSURE BLEED ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THEY SHOULD ALSO PERFORM AN ABS SYSTEM BLEED WHICH IS DONE WITH THE SCAN TOOL. THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Rear brakes

parking brake cable is seized or improperly installed.... check that.
I'm uncertain what you mean about the calipers.... but having to push the cyclinder back in to change the pads is normal..... do one at a time. after you have installed the pads, pump the brake then do the other ..... check your brake fluid level when you are done as well.
