The 3L30 automatic, its old fashioned Hyramatic,
it has no TCM brain, like the 4 speed.
the tests are all easy.
the Reverse stall tests fails in reverse only cold
this is the 2nd test in the fsm.

  1. levels good per steps in operators guide, lost that?
  2. do the full service, the filter or screen,. is clogged. (above pan)
  3. is the ATF fluid pink, red or black>? does it smell sweet or burned socks.?
  4. if all that is done, the FSM directs you to do the line pressure test.
  5. if the Line pressure is out of spec. in reverse , the tranny is bad.

if 5 fails. live with it or fix it, it will never get better. as pressure drops
more the 1 gear will slip.

I have a 98 Tacoma 2wd automatic w/2.4 truck runs excellent, shifts perfect and does not slip any going forward, but if I park and have to back out it takes a second to engage reverse but it will engage

You do have a problem then. Slow reverse engagement can be the sign of a failing transmission. Use reverse as little as possible under as light a load as possible. If you have never changed the fluid and filter in the transmission do that as well, it may help. Also verify the fluid level is correct hot fluid check.

I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

20001 vw jetta tdi automatic transmission problem

Ok , so you got home , parked it and when you started it up the next day and shifted it into reverse... backed out... and went to shift into drive , it stayed in reverse ?
Have you checked to see that the cable has not disjoined itself from the shifter to the trans.?
Are you able to engage Park?

2001 Dodge ram -2500 automatic. transmission slow to engage, months later started not shifting into 3rd gear, then 1 months later slow to engage into 2nd , now only 1st gear......

sounds like filter could be clogged, if it hasn't been changed in a while. you can try to replace throttle position sencer, it is like your old trans kinkenge system, only now, it is elect. it tells trans when to shift, like your speed sencer on trans doe's. both can make it act like it is.

Chrysler 300M Transmission slow to engage when shifting from reverse to drive. this is the only problem

ther isn't anything anyone can do without driving this with a scanner hooked up to see if you have any codes and to see the data to see if anything is wrong.
This problem can be anything from a computer issue to a trans or engine issue. The problem will be internal to all the above mentioned. You could do a trans service and hope for the best but a diagnostic approach would be better
