1998 licoln continental driver side back passenger windows not working

I could see one window not working from a broken wire inside the door flex , but not both back windows . Back windows are controlled by LF door module . Both back windows have different grounds - LR G200 an RR G201 . Also both rear window switches have different power supply's .RR switch fuse # 18 30 amp . LR is fuse b# 9 40 amp . Both window motors or switche's going out at same time ???? wouldn't think so .
  • Driver door module circuits open/shorted.
  • Loose, corroded connectors.
  • Damaged window regulator control switch.
  • Damaged window regulator electric drive.
  • Open fuse in fuse junction panel Fuse 39 (10A), 28 (10A), 30 (10A).
  • Open fuse in power distribution box Fuse 9 (40A), 10 (40A), 8 (40A).
  • Glass, Frames and Mechanisms

    Inspection and Verification
    1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power windows/heated back window to duplicate the condition.
    1. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

      VISUAL INSPECTION CHART Mechanical Electrical
      • Front door power window regulator damaged.
      • Front window run damaged.
      • Front door window glass out of window run.
      • Front door window glass broken.

      • Open fuse in power distribution box Fuse 9 (40A), 10 (40A), 8 (40A).
      • Scratched grid.
    1. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
    1. If the concern remains after inspection, connect the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel to perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the driver door module, go to Pinpoint Test A . If the NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for the lighting control module, go to Pinpoint Test B . If the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test is passed for the drivers door module and lighting control module, retrieve continuous DTCs and execute Self Test Diagnostics for the driver door module and lighting control module to retrieve current DTCs.
    1. If self test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
    1. If DTCs are retrieved, go to the Driver Door Module (DDM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index or Lighting Control Module (LCM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
    1. If the driver door module cannot be accessed by the NGS, GO to Pinpoint Test A . If the lighting control module cannot be accessed by the NGS, go to Pinpoint Test B .

Have problem with my power windows in my 96 buick century custom driver and passenger side windows are not going down, but the back one works tho I have the door part but everything looks fine, and theres...

Check for broken wires in the door jamb of the drivers door. You will have to **** the rubber boot which the wires pass through to gain access. This was a very common problem for those vehicles, and there is probably more than one wire broken.

2005 Buick Century,ABS , TRAC OFF, SERVICE VEHICLE SOON,,STICKY IGNITION SWITCH,,DRIVER DOOR WINDOW SWITCH STICKY WINDOW NOT GOING DOWN, SEATBELT NOT CATCHING AND STAYING LOCKED IN.....CAR PURCHASED BY MY...

I think that the ABS TRAC OFF light has more to do with the ABS sensors not giving reliable speed or movement information to the ABS Control Module. Harness connections or broken wires to the module can cause the same problem, or the hub assembly ($49 to $79 to $109 for the part) may have to be replaced to start with.

The driver door window switch not functioning correctly may be a bad or dirty switch which can be obtained from a salvage yard for a lower price than from the dealer. I would test the switch current before replacing, though, with a test light to ensure the wiring is not an issue with this circuit, as well.

Good luck on these repairs on the 2005 Buick Century.

I want to remove passenger side rear door panel because window is down and won't stay up

Hi,
Hi!!

Here is a little information on how window regulator works. Also step by step instruccions on how to remove and install the window glass.

Door Glass & Regulator Power Windows
Diagnosis & Testing
When the rear window lockout feature is enabled, the circuit is open and no voltage is supplied to the rear window switches. When the feature is not enabled, the circuit is connected to battery positive voltage. If this circuit is shorted to ground when the lockout feature is not enabled, the PWR WDO circuit breaker may cycle continuously OFF/ON until, either the lockout switch is pressed to open the circuit, or the circuit breaker is permanently damaged. All windows may be partially or totally inoperative while the fault is present.
Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the system. Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom. Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions.
Removal & Installation
Window Motor & Regulator
  1. Position window approximately half way down in the door.
  2. Remove the interior trim panel.
  3. Remove the water deflector.
  4. Tape the window to door frame to prevent it from moving.
  5. Remove the three front door window regulator motor screws.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor.
  7. Remove front side door window regulator motor.
  8. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Window Switch
Front
  1. Remove the front door pull cup screws and pull cup from the front door trim panel.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front door power window control switch.
  3. Remove the front door window control switch using a small, flat-bladed tool at the side of the switch.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Rear
  1. Remove the rear door pull cup from the rear door trim panel.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the power window control switch.
  3. Remove the rear door window control switch from the pull cup using a small, flat-bladed tool at the side of the power window control switch to release the power window control switch retainer.
  4. Remove the power window control switch from the rear door pull cup.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Winow goes down won't go back up. swith is

There is no type of sensor in that system, however the problem could be a broken wire inside of the weather boot that runs between the door and the body of the vehicle. (The broken wire(s) will most likely be inside of the driver side door weather boot, but it could also be inside of the weather boot on the door that has the window problem)

If the window does go part of the way back up then most likely the window regulator assembly or the drive gear between the regulator assembly and the power window motor is damaged, and the door panel will have to be removed to inspect for the actual problem.

Here is a wiring diagram of a typical power window circuit for that year and vehicle to help assist you.
