Hi Susan, I'm glad to help! The complete dash must be removed to replace any parts that may be broken on the A/C housing. Not sure why you need the repair but I'm guessing one of the doors or broken. The most common door that breaks is the recirculation door, with this one you replace the recirculation housing. Make sure to have them check the heater core and evaporator for leaks. If you have a lot of miles on your truck its good practice just to have them replace the heater core and evaporator if you want to do the JOB right. The check engine light indicates there is a problem with the emissions system and has nothing to do with oil or coolant level. It can be as simple as a loose gas cap. If the engine is running fine then just keep driving and have it repaired when you get back home. You will not damage anything by continuing to drive as long as the engine is running as it should.
