It does sound like a relay stuck on. You may need a wiring diagram to see if another relay is at play here.

What happens when you pull the relay? If you have the one and only, it should stop the motor from running. Or maybe the fan switch has a short and won't shut off.

You can find a wiring diagram there. Click on TSB's and wiring diagrams, agree to end user license agreement, click on wiring diagrams, and enter your vehicle information. Then look for HVAC controls. Not the easiest site to navigate-you have to keep going back to search, but it's a huge database with free wiring diagrams for all makes and models going back to 1986.

SOURCE: 1992 cadillac deville - hvac blower motor does not shut off.

replace the relay , when a relay sticks like that , a good test is to slap it with something like the handle of a screw driver , see if it un-sticks , its not a fix , just a test . cheers'

SOURCE: blower motor does not work

I had the same problem, replace, replace, replace. Check, check and recheck. What I found was the blower motor resistor, located in the blower squirrel cage area, two prongs and a curly wire, was bad. Took the new one back, (it ohmed out okay, continuity ok, all ok!) replaced it with another, and Bingo, problem solved. Frustrating to say the least. After two relays and a blower switch, and test, test and retest. It was a faulty resistor. Made in Mexico. And no guarentee, even though new, it works. Trial and error. Even the dealer parts are Honcho en Mexico. Thanks NAFTA. You gonna make us all welfare babies.

Check the connector to the blower motor. Turn it on and wiggle the connector.

SOURCE: blower motor not working at all. 2003 ram

the resitor operates ground, if theres no power then its a bad fuse under the hood in the power fusebox, or #10 fuse inside the leftside of dash, power for the blower comes from the ignition switch, double check all fuses,if you had no ground to blower then i would say the resistor, make sure you have a good ground on the test light, then check for power with key on again, heres a wiring diagram to help you, good luck.fd18d13.gif

Ac/heater fan will not shut off in 2003 venture

May have broken a connection/shorting in the blower resistor pack which controls motor speed. Can get fragile with older vehicles.

Fan motor blower not working

According to the wiring diagram, there are only three components to the system. The blower motor, the resistor, and the speed control switch.
The resistor gets power from the switch which is powered by a 25amp fuse. On high setting the resistor is bypassed and the blower motor gets power from a 30amp circuit breaker. The blower is grounded to the body. The fuse is hot in the "run" position and the 30amp breaker is hot all the time.
So you should have power at the blower motor on one of the settings and a direct ground on the black wire.

My blower fan inside the van only works on high. Do I need to replace the switch or is it a relay problem?

Sounds like you have an issue with the blower motor resistor. The resistor is located in the airbox near the blower motor. It is held in place with two screws.

The blower motor resistor uses a series of resistors to drop voltage to lower fan speed. The lowest setting uses the most resistance and the setting below uses the least resistance. Since all of the lower speeds use the resistor that the speed just below high uses if that resistor goes bad it will cause all the other lower speed settings to not work.

'97 Venture Van. Fan is not blowing no matter

Test the motor first, The wire to it is a hot positive wire and the motor's housing is the ground. If that works ok next check the resistor to see if its burnt out. Did you look at your fuses first?

1997 venture van. Fan for heat and A/C not working

Check the fuse and then the switch it self, if the fuse and switch is good. Then check the blower resistor and blower motor it self. I'm leaning towards the switch it self since you mentioned that it was sporadically and on the highest setting would by pass the blower resistors. Good luck and if it's not the switch then it's going to be the blower motor it self. Auto Zone has them in stock and can give you the step by step instructions for you to get the job done with common tools.

Ac blower motor

Check fuse supplying fan is not blown,
Check blower control switch is operating OK,
Check relay controlling fan is operating OK,
Check variable speed resistor pack is not faulty (the resistor pack is usually located in the blower ducting, in the blower airflow),
Check blower motor ground connection is not missing.

1998 Astro Van Heater AC Blower only works on medium & Low

Yes, in high it bypasses the resistor and uses a high blower relay. But I think on 1998 Astro the High relay and the resistor are built together. It should be mounted in the blower box real close to the blower motor.
