if the car isnt diesel well then that would do it.you need to drain your fuel system and tank and would be good to change plugs too.

SOURCE: WHEN TO CHANGE TIMING BELT

The Renault schedule for timing belts on the Scenic is 72,000 miles or 5 years. This applies to both the petrol and DCI models as both have timing belts not chains.

However, please be aware that it is common knowledge in the trade not to let the interval go past 40,000 miles because these engines are renowned for snapping belts at any time after 40k resulting in serious engine damage.

Haynes (who are renowned for their service manuals on many models) recommend a maximum interval of 36,000 miles between belts on this model which is exactly half that of what Renault say!

This information from Haynes is backed up by experience and reports from the trade on the common and unfortunate experiences of customers experiencing belt breakage at 45 k and below.

Hope this helps. Please do leave a vote for the solution. Thanks.

How to fix what was a fast jet ski that got sluggish and started skipping all in a period of 7-15min?

I would pull plug wires when it gets hot and starts missing make sure you are getting good fire at plug wires, then I would pull bowl on carb and clean really well, make sure float isn't stuck and hopefully go full throttle!

Petrol use good petrol BP ESSO TEXACO they have the best additives which protect injectors pistons every thing you need to keep good. My s4 only ran properly on these fuels.

Renault Scenic 05 plate petrol 1.6 The 'check emissions' warning light has come on. What is the likely cause? The car has been starting poorly of late. Lively battery but slow to fire. Hope someone...

Try to disconnect battery first and then hook back up after a minute. This should reset computer. If it runs good after that and then bogs down again you can get the code for check engine from any parts store and then investigate more throughly. If it runs good after you do the battery don't fix it.

Starting probs.

ive experienced this before, ive replaced the tdc sensor (and in some cases the loom), then removed and cleaned out the throttle body, it will need the learnt values reset from the injection computer, a small charge from your renault dealer, normally about £45
