The trunk using the key or using the inside trunk release -- located next to the driver's seat. Inspect the left edge of the trunk wall to find the trunk light lens.

Check the switch (located on the trunk lid) that contacts the pull-down mechanism for power. If there is no power, the wiring is "open" between the body and the trunk lid. Look for the problem in the wiring and repair the wires. If there is power, the switch is bad.

2014 VW Beetle convertible. Trunk indicator light stays on. Trunk is closed. trunk cargo light wont turn off because it thinks the trunk is open. Please help.

Sounds like you have a bad switch in the latch. You can try spraying it with contact cleaner and operating the switch several times. But most likely you will need to change out the bad latch.

Trunk light won't go off on dash board 2003 Saturn l200

There is a micro switch in your trunk latch that turns that light on and off. If your trunk is securely latched and the light is on, either the switch needs cleaned or the latch needs replaced. You can try spraying it with a contact cleaner and seeing if it will start working.

Trunk open light flashes on bumps

the trunk should close firmly and not have any play, check the mechanism it should have a few philips screws holding it down, normally the mechanism is designed with slots that allows the mechanism to slide up and down, trial and error until you happy with the play on the trunk, if the light still stays on adjust the switch, this can be done by turning the locking nut below the switch to raise or lower the lever.

Remove the bulb if you think it runs the battery down. the switch is part of the latch assembly of the trunk.

Chrysler sebring trunk lock wont latch and stay shut and locked

On the Sebring, there is a small switch on the trunk where it latches. Right in the middle, there is a small button you can push, which will allow the trunk door to shut. It just needs reset. Right where it goes down to lock at.

Light in the back is on

When you say "rear" do you mean the trunk/boot? There is a switch on the trunk latch, at the bottom of the trunk opening. Look for a bad switch or a pinched wire behind the latch.
