SOURCE: replacing timing belt and/or water pump

i can answer part of that... have someone put pressure hard on the serpentine belt while you turn the bolt.... likewise if you have access to the timing belt tho i would be careful with that so the timing does not shift. after you get the bolt out you will need a puller for it too. carefull as well when you install the new one to match up the groove on the crankshaft with the pully or you'll never have the timing right.

SOURCE: which way do I turn the main bolt on crankshaft to

You may have a reverse thread confirm by disconect coil wire or power plug to distributor and have an assistant turn the motor over while you observe standing in the front of the vehicle to determine crank pulley directional rotation, if when standing in the front of vehicle the rotation is counterclock wise the bolt unscrews counterclock wise (the usual) if the rotation is clockwise it is a reverse thread.

The crankshaft pulley bolt loosens by turning Counter-Clockwise. Ensure the pulley is secure from movement so that you can loosen the pulley bolt without turning over the engine. You may need to use breaker bar to loosen the pulley bolt, or at least a large wrench.

On a 1996 pontiac sunfire gt with 2.4 l engine is the crankshaft pulley bolt right-handed threads or left handed threads

There's nothing mentioned in the repair section that the bolt is not standard right hand thread. You could check with a GM dealer to make sure.

Working on Honda Prelude 1992 with a 2.2 motor can't get bolt off crankshaft pulley wanting to know if it is left or right handed threads

It is standard thread (right handed) and a little more information if you need it: there is a hole on the rear of the block on the drivers side located just behind the rear balance shaft so you can lock your engine #1 cylinder @ TDC with a 6mmX100mm bolt or screwdriver. there is a hole machined into the balance shaft that holds everything still so you can get done....I would also recommend the use of an impact....IT IS TIGHT!!!

Is the bolt on the crankshaft pully right or left hand threads?

The crank pulley bolt on most Honda engines are very difficult to loosen. Most 1/2" impact guns are just are not strong enough to loosen them. The choice is yours to either use a 3/4" impact gun, the bolt is left losey, righty tighte
