SOURCE: rear brake pads

The rear calipers have to be turned back in, not pushed. There is a tool, but rather than spend the money... I have used a 11/16 wrench. Slips at first until you get it started, but then the calipers turn pretty easily.

SOURCE: Can't get rear caliper piston in

YOU WILL NEED A SPECIAL TOOL TO TURN THE PISTON BACK INTO THE CALIPER. TURN IT CLOCKWISE WHILE PUSHING INWARD ON THE PISTON.

SOURCE: Are the rear brake caliper pistons on a 1991

are they smooth faced? if so a C-Clamp/if they have some indentations in the face you need to screw these in with a homemade tool or for about $15 get a multi-purpose tool for many different vehichle brake piston types

2005 grand prix rear brake pads.

Rear Discs?

You screw in the caliper piston-- the pads will fall in there,
then ratchet up the park adjuster, when all is back together

No ----you should not have left them alone

My left rear wheel locked up and won't turn. on my 1995 pontiac grand prix. but when I look up my car it looks like the 1996 grand prix.

they look the same. your problem is either an emergency brake thats locked or a bad wheel bearing thats locked up. have you smelled brakes burning? if so,then i would say a brake issue. if not have you heard a squeling sound coming from the rear of car? if so then wheel bearings bad. either way the tire has to come off to look and see which it is.either one of these solutions can be your problem. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

  4. Remove the bottom brake caliper pin bolt.
  5. Pivot the brake caliper body upward and secure out of the way. Do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.
