No the hood switch say it is

try scanning the PCM and seening that same error

then fix that.

factory remote starts are very strick, do to the obvious nature

of starting and unoccupied car and the death and mayhem.

it has a logic tree, that saves you from yourself\'

and 1zillion lawsuits.

Look for the electrical plung switch which is usually at the front hood corners. Trace the wire back towards the latch.

SOURCE: The "Hood Ajar" warning message

Hi.

Check the hood ajar safety switch that is located under the hood at one side, near the front. The switch can be tested using a VOM set on impedance to check if it does close and open. The switch can also be tested jumping and opening its contacts.

Start opening the hood and locating the switch. See the diagram below:

Horn on ford explorer 2004 is continuously working when i beep the horn . I was told by electrician I need to replace horn sensor ,where is the horn sensor located & can it be bought used , thank u

more then likely it's a door ajar switch - not a sensor .
Anti-Theft- Perimeter Alarm System
The perimeter anti-theft system provides for vehicle security through an audible and visual notification if the vehicle's exterior is invaded without the system being shut off. The system self-arms when the doors, liftgate and hood are closed and the key is OFF. Any open door, hood or liftgate will prevent the system from arming. The hood ajar switch, door ajar switches and liftgate ajar switch cause these circuits to register as normally closed circuits. The vehicle security module monitors the status of the hood ajar, door ajar and liftgate ajar switches. If these circuits indicate an open entry point, the switch opens the circuit to the vehicle security module, which energizes the horn and autolamp relays (causing the horn to sound and the lights to flash). The vehicle security module turns off the anti-theft system when it receives a command through the keyless entry keypad, remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter, or anti-theft alarm inhibit switch.

Auto start shuts off within 10 seconds?

you have 2 choices
get car serviced,
or
read below. (pick one?)
sure, this is easy, (system logic not)
but you forgot to say , car starts with key, and runs perfect.
right. for get remove start toy.
certified , = warranted, or some bs.?

runs perfect means zero if the CEL glows running,
does car run perfectly you in seat starting with key and driving?
my guess you mean car stalls, 10second (ONLY ) remote started.
sure.
"engine light" means not running right, on all cars 1988 to now.

the XBM remote start will never work , with any errors from
ECU
PCM
BCM
or TCM
ever.
or if it sees doors ajar or alarms of any kind
by logic and federal laws.
scan it 1st and correct all DTC errors first.
that is what to do. if you are savvy and have a scan tool.
$10 to $100 tool, sold in all autostores usa.

think for 1 second how dangerous this FEATURE, can be.
hummmmmmm (a driverless moving car...)

why not read the FSM book on the 2013?
it covers most the logic, there.

The alarm randomly comes on for no reason, would this be related to the BCM? If not what could it be?

Some of the sensors are going bad or are too sensitive. A motion sensor or lock sensor can be intermittently setting it off. Do you have access to a scan tool ?

The alarm on my explorer keeps going off for no reason also it keeps beeping and saying door ajar....help

Mine started doing this about a year ago. My mechanic could not find the cause. I located the horn fuses under the dash and the emergency module under the hood and yanked them. Now the alarm still goes off at random, but it doesn't make any noise. That was the best I could do for the poor thing. Also I now have no horn, which has helped to teach my wife to be a more patient driver. She loved that horn.
