97 maxima won't start, battery, alternator, and starter is fine, had check out. Car starts during normal/low temp. outside but when it get hot(high temp.) outside it just turns on at the dash. If I press hard and shake the key after several annoying attempts it will finally start. Is it a bad ignition switch? Starts smooth during low temps!

Yes, most likely the switch but possibly the anti-theft system. You can be more sure by checking the wires as they come out of the steering column. Use a multi meter or test light to see if there is power on the start wire when you're having the problem. It's the black wire with a white stripe if you have a stick and black with yellow stripe for auto trans. Your switch is not difficult to replace. There is a short procedure on autozone.com.

I HAVE A 94 B4000. AND IT RUNS GRATE. IT WILL START JUST FINE\r\nIF IT HAS SAT THERE ALL NIGHT. BUT AFTER ITS GOT UP TO RUNNING TEMP. AND YOU SHUT IT OFF. IT JUST WONT START. BUT YOU CAN PULL IT AND THEN...

A couple of thoughts: Test the alternator charging output and make sure it is operating normally. You didn't mention what happens when you try to restart, does it crank over normally or not at all? If your vehicle is high miles, which would be normal for a 94, you could have a bad starter. I have seen starters with worn bushings crank OK when cold, but when hot, the armature will drag and cause low/no cranking speed and an excessive amperage draw from the battery. Starter draw can be tested. I would suggest going to a parts store, such as Advance where you can have it tested, probably for free. Have them test battery, alternator output and starter amp draw, then buy what you need.

Takes longer to start than normal, but eventually does. ( I ran the battery down about 2 weeks ago having to use a cpap breathing machine with an inverter one night, when storms lost power to our house.) ...

Well, you DO have a dilema! First, if the battery is internally shorted or run completely down, it is NORMAL for the alternator voltage to read a little low - at least until the battery is at full charge. The best advise I can give you is to read these articles:

Wont start when its cold outside not the battery or starter

From your description it sounds like the car will start when it is warm out ? I would start with the air temp sensor which regulates the air /fuel mixture on start up.Unfortunately,if I remember correctly, the air temp sensor is built in with the MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow) and you will need to replace both of these to start.Try your local wreckers for a low mile one.Good Luck

2000 maxima has erratic idle on cold days and will stall out on extremely cold days. Also, have noted antifreeze leak (on ground) on those really cold days. Car runs fine once it reaches normal operating...

It sounds like an engine temp sensor is open.. When your engine is cold or anti-freeze is cold your ECU or ECM gets a signal from the temp sensor for cold engine start. It would make sense that it works fine when hot because the resistance on the sensor is a lot lower. Take an ohm meter if you have one and check the resistance across the temp sensor pins. When the engine is cold the resisitance should be really high. Start and warm up your car to normal temp and check it again. It should be a lot lower now. If not replace it. Hope this helps.

1993 Nissan Maxima, Non-Start

Hello, I would assume this is a starter problem. You can go to Autozone and get a free diagnostic of your electrical system for free and tell you if your starter, alternator, battery is bad and/or if you have any trouble codes present in your system. I would also check your battery connections to see if they are tight and I would also check and see if your starter cables are tight as well. I hope this helps you and Good Luck!

Ac and heater both coming on just taking turns.

If this just started to fault after battery replace, I would suspect a vacuum hose or outside air temp sensor got unhooked or damaged under the hood. A scanner could help diagnose issue if nothing obvious is found to have been disturbed under the hood during batery replace.Good luck!
