CHANGE THE ROTORS WHEN YOU CHANGE THE PADS,YOU DON'T CUT ROTORS ANYMORE, THEY TEND TO WARP, GIVING A PULSING PEDAL FEELING. $50 A ROTOR,, IF THEY CHARGE $20 TO CUT, IT ISN'T WORTH IT!! ALWAYS 4 NEW ROTORS 2 IN FRONT 2 IN REAR AND FRONT AND REAR PADS. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON YOU STOPPING !!

Its minimum thickness must be 22mm but the specified size is 25.4mm which would fit in perfectly

SOURCE: what is the minimum thickness on the front rotors

Minimum thickness is 27.9mm or 1.09"...... I dont know what "run off limit" means? It doesnt matter, the minimum is the minimum, period.

On the bottom of the auto transmission there is a belly pan, this pan must be removed to drain the fluid out of the transmission and replace the internal fluid filter. So you will need a large drain pan to catch the fluid and a floor jack to raise the van and safety stands to support it while you remove the bolts that hold the pan on, there is no drain plug so this is a VERY messy job. Clean off the old gasket completely, use no sealer and use a high quality trans pan gasket, the dealer is best or you will have leakage problems, tighten the bolts to 12-14 pounds of torque with a torque wrench, this is very important.

Minimum rotor thickness

I don't know the min thickness, but I have an outback just like yours and if there is a problem with uneven rotors it's usually cheaper and easier to buy aftermarket at NAPA auto or other supplier (shop around) and trash the old rotors. If the rotors can be turned then keep them for the next brake job and use them then. Outbacks are easy to do about 30 min a side rotor and pads after the wheel is off, just did mine.

My van shimmies when braking, could it be the rotors.

Yup! Warped rotors will cause that - and if severe enough, may be felt as a pulsating brake pedal under your foot when you're applying the brakes.
Many auto supply shops used to offer "turning" of rotors and drums on a lathe while your waited for a few bucks each. The thickness of many newer auto's drums and rotor is so small that there's seldom enough metal to have them "turned" and still meet the minimum required thickness. That means buying new drums or rotors instead.

How to change rear brake pads in 2008 dodge caravan?

In this tutorial, we learn how to check the brake pads on a 2008 Dodge Caravan, check the thickness of the brake pads on the car to see if they are thick enough. The rear pad is surrounded by a gold piece called the "shoe" and the rotor. The front pad has to be inspected by laying on your back and looking for the pad to see how thick it is. If the thickness is not enough, you need to replace it as soon as possible. Make sure the brake pads are up to t
