Disconnect the posative terminal then touch the terminal to the posative a few times quickly it will reset your odometer needle to above the resting pin. This happens because you moved your posative terminal and the needles spun around and sat on the wrong side of the pin.
u don't rest it, u must remove the speedo and send it out for repair, there is a reason why the needle did this, the electronics have failed that operate the speedometer needle and cuase it to jump over the post, a common problem
Try disconnecting the battery again, only the + side. Wait for 3-5 min before hooking back up. Turn the switch on but not over, then start the car after a few seconds.
Push and hold in the speedometer odometer button turn the key to almost starting the car when needles start moving release button wait for the needles to return to original position then turn off the key.
This is an easy fix. Turn the key off. Press and hold the trip odometer reset button. Hold it until you see the odometer light up and it will say "soF" and a number. When you see this then let the trip odometer button go. The cluster will enter into a self test where all the lights come on and all of the gauges sweep. When the self test is complete then your speedometer will be back on the correct side of the peg and will work again.
a scanner that gets into the instrument cluster computer can reset the needles. or take the dash apart and manually turn dash cluster upsidedown, then the needles will move so rotate untill the needles are reset.
Here is how it happens, The positive battery cable was loose, after adjusting the battery cable the speedometer needle went under the retention ping. How to fix it: 1- remove the positive battery cable 2- have a person to look at the speedometerneedle 3- Make the battery cable to touch the positive terminal of the battery (this will make the needle to jump over the retention pin) 4- Tight cable again.
I had this same thing occur in my 2001 Town & Country, it always happens when I have to do any electrical work that requires unhooking the battery. Once the van restarts, the needle swings around backwards, but there is a small retaining nub that keeps it from making a full revolution. In my 2001 this is easily fixed, you just pop off the dashplate around the upper half of the steering column, and then there are four bolts holding the clear plastic instrument panel cover in place. Once you remove those, you just pull off the speedometer needle, then replace it on the other side of the retaining nub. Be careful when touching the little nub however, it is rubbery and quite delicate. Hope this works for your 2002!
