The heater/ac all works. Changing the selector switch on the output of air does nothing ever. I checked the vacuum hoses on the passenger side of the doghouse. They are all hooked up.
Maybe the vacuum line to the selector is disconnected/leaking /bad. Most of the vacuum controlled systems I have worked with also have a vacuum amplifier somewhere under the hood that increases the amount of vacuum going to the selector.
This is, as you know a vacuum controlled switch. There are many vacuum lines in your engine compartment. If I remember correctly, the main vacuum line comes off the top of your engine block and into a number of splitters. You can check the vacuum lines in your engine compartment. I had the same problem on my S10 pickup and I found a nearly disitegrated vacuum line that came off the rear of my engine and split I to the cab of the truck. If you look on the drivers side of your engine bay toward the firewall, you should see the small hoses I'm talking about. Make sure your engine is relatively cool and start and run your engine. Follow the vacuum lines with your hands (keeping them away from moving belts and fans) and feel for any kinks, breaks or rough spots in the line. If you feel anything other than perfect supple rubber, replace it. I am sure it's a simple line break or rotten spot in one of your engine compartment vacuum hoses. Hope this helps.

I had this problem with my '93 Ford Probe. What happened was the shaft coming out of the vacuum solenoid was onnected to a plastic arm for the valve that rotated for where you want the air to go. This plastic arm was broken over the years of constant use so I make a small metal one.

You probably have a vacuum leak on the passenger side. its a small plastic hose some times they come unpluged from the engine. or brake.

You have dual zones that are controlled by temperature actuators the passenger side has lost its memory or has gone bad you can put it in self programming by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes then hook it back up start the truck turn the temperature control on but do not touch any other controls let it go thru the self programming for about 6 to 7 minutes then select your temperature you want if it still does not work properly you may have a bad actuator or a bad connection at the actuator

HVAC control head problem or it is the air Temp Control Valve problem. THe control head is the one with the buttons and knobs and the control vavle is located on the HVAC carrier assembly underneath dashboard (two of them one on left and one on right in center). This is a job for someone who has knowledge of HVAC and electrical on a GM vehicle.
