Check the operation of the fuel injector and for a vacuum leak were the intake fastens to the head and compression on this cylinder.

SOURCE: I am getting a misfire

I've got a 2002 Grand Prix GTP 3.8L Supercharged V6, nearly the same motor.
I had the exact same problem, misfire on Cyl. 5 and random/multiple misfire.

I replaced all the wires, plugs, coils, and even the ignition module. My next thought was either fuel or exaust.

Replaced my Cat. with a 2.5" ZZP downpipe, and the car ran alot better, but still had a tiny bit of hesitation over 4000rpms.

So i checked all the fuel injectors, and the #5 injector was bad.

To check, get an ohm meter, remove the injector connectors, and contact the 2 posts inside the injector. They should read between 12.4-14 or so.

Mine was at 11.2.

Replaced all the fuel injectors, and she runs like a champ

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 L misfiring code po305

Cylinder 5 misfiring.
I have heard, plugs, wires, coil, and a few other less obvious cures. If the engine is 10 years old and plugs and wires have never been changed, they are overdue. Fouled rear plugs can be caused by old stiff wires not conducting as they should, which will cause the rear plugs to further degrade and cause the coil to overwork resulting in lower output, which some people overcome temporarily by gapping their plugs a little closer and a myriad of other temporary measures, The next logical check would be compression,

2005 dodge caravan sxt engine missing

I have run into these caravans burning oil, not much you can do except keep an eye on the oil level or spend a lot of money having piston rings replaced.
The best way to go about finding the misfire would be to go to an auto zone or other auto parts store that will scan the computer for codes. the codes will tell you which cylinder is misfiring.
I would bet it could be a fouled spark plug due to oil burning but could be a plug wire also.Have the codes read and find the cylinder that is misfiring and remove the spark plug and see if the tip is covered or worn down, if it is then replace spark plug and you may want to do them all. up to you.
If the plug is okay then move on to spark plug wires, swap the misfiring cylinder wire with another cylinder and see if misfire moves if it does then replace the wires.

To find the cylinder by #. If you are standing if front of the van looking at engine cylinders 2,4,and 6 are in front, closest to radiator from left to right. then cylinders 1,3,and 5 are at the rear also going left to right.
Good day.

did you check the coil it may be bad. for # 1 cylinder. if you can, just replace them all. then you will know everything is ok! but change #1 coil first to find out. try putting some injector cleaner in the tank, or swapping the injector from the #1 cylinder to the #2 and see if the code follows it and let us know.

Dirty fuel injectors. Computer will show misfire on the cylinders that are malfunctioning. If injector cleaner in tank won't clean them, pull them all out and have a professional take them apart and cleaned. Each injector has a screen in it that can get plugged up. Think about Bro, all other stuff has been renewed.
