The door catch is down or has lost a spring inside the hook
No simple fix but too replace door latch inside

This will keep door shut then can drive vehicle normal till door catch is fixed its simple hour job to replace just buy parts have mechanic shop install

SOURCE: all doors open and close with remote except the passenger side ?

Sounds like the most likely cause is the electronic lock actuator is bad. will have to take door panel appart to check.

SOURCE: 1998 Sienna Back Door Latch

I had the same problem. I found solution on internet at following link:
http://www.findonefindall.com/toyota-sienna/siennareardoor.htm

I purchased the back door latch from Toyota dealer for $68 + taxes and replaced according to the instruction given at the above link. It takes less than 30 minutes to replace it. Thanks to the nice people for sharing the knowledge. The dealer quoted over $300 for the same.

SOURCE: 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE - Automatic sliding door not closing.

This may or may not work depending on exactly what is wrong with the door, I cant tell what is wrong without looking at it directly however:
You can try starting with all doors closed and unlocked, keys in hand disconnecting the battery and letting the vehicle sit for 2 min or so, then reconnect the battery. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position but do not start the van. Next press the button to disable the power sliding door for the drivers side, then manually open the door fully, wait 5 seconds, then close it manually fully. Press button the button again to re-enable the power sliding door, then try to use it with the automatic feature either by pulling the handle or using your remote, this may or may not work depending on if the door has somehow become de-initialized (it should work now) however if something is broken inside the door closing mechanism or door closed/open sensors, the door will continue to malfunction.

I have a 2000 Lincoln Continental that is having problems with the driver side door. We had just gotten it back over a check engine light concern and getting the back windows fixed. While driving in...

Same thing happened to me. I agree with the lubrication solution...I sprayed some wd40 where the latch is as I did not want to take the door apart and it fixed the problem for me.

Radio won t shut off when the drive door is open

It is because you didn't open/close the driver side door. Contrary to the RAP system on earlier GM vehicles, the accessory power will stay on until the driver side door, rather than any door.

I suspect there is nothing wrong with your Saturn

I have a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant, 4-door, and my driver side rear door will not stay shut. Not sure if it is because of cold weather or some mechanism that broke. Unable to drive car!

Hi,

Sounds like the door latch mechanism (inside the door frame) is faulty.

You'll need to either fix yourself, or have someone do it for you.

Doors freeze up wont shut close after opening interior light then stays on

Look at the end of the door where the latch is located. The latch may have flipped to the closed possition when the door was open. There is a U shaped piece that when the door hits the post on the door jam it flips up to hold the door shut.If you can get the passinger door open you can see what it looks like in the open position. If this is the problem just hold the door handle like you are opening the door and with a srew driver or even your finger you can push than U piece back down.To keep your door from freezing shut try putting sone silicone spray on a paper towl and wiping it on the rubber door seal.Spray a little on the door latch as well.

2004 Toyota Sienna power slide door won't open all the way

The suggested fix above did fix my problem. The problem is that a 2.5" hinged finger that pops up from the floor of the door opening to block the door. Apparently, the finger should, but doesnt go back down after the gas flap is closed. Even after I got hinged finger down (so that the sliding door would open/close all the way), it still would not go back down after the gas flap has been opened. i.e. I have to push the finger back down every time after we fill up with gas. It looks like there is a little wire/spring that should pull the finger back down, but it is off of the finger. I think that replacing this back on the finger should fix the problem permanently.

Closeing my back drivers side door

If the door itself will not stay closed then it is not the power locks but the latch that is malfunctioning, the locks only allow or disallow the latch from opening when you try to open the door.  Thoroughly lubricate the latch mechanism on the door with something like WD-40 and inspect it for damage, make sure the bolts that hold the latch within the door are tight and are aligned correctly.  After you lubricate it, close and open the door to work the lubricant in.  Also if you have child lock switches on the door, make sure the switch is fully off or on.  If all else fails then the handle/latch mechanism may need to be replaced.

Fuel door wont stay closed

there is a little metal tesion bar/bracket that keeps it in the open or closed position. If your fuel door itself is not bent or damaged then I would check this bar to see if it has been bent or out of place. I'm not sure if there is a replacement part; I just bent mine a little to get it to stay closed. Unfortunatly I left it open the other day when I went thru a car was after fueling and the door is bent now so I have another issue to deal with.

hope that helps
