I have a 1997 Jeep Grand cherokee and the sun roof wont open sometimes. Sometimes if it opens in the back it wont open in the front and then you have to wait about 5 mins to open it all the way.

Hi, as a general point on sunroofs I have known the white grease used on them to go hard after time and cause them to go tight. Flushing the Runners with a good penetrating oil whilst working the sunroof back and forward can help to free them off, sometimes giving the roof a hand will help to get them moving. jon
Open your sun roof all the way and look at the two tracks that it slides on. They are usually very dirty after a while because they are covered withe grease and they attract dirt. Take a cloth soaked in a cleaning solution such as WD 40 and clean the tracks. Apply a coat of white lithium grease, available at you hardware store. Run the sunroof back and forth a few times and that should make operate better.
your manual for your jeep should tell you in there. Yes there is one and the manual should show you where. Sometimes it might be in the glove compartment so go check there first.
recommend cking the drain holes, should be 4 drains in the corners, sometimes you have to clean out all drains, usually they clog in the bottom.dirt,trash,etc.builds up and restricts or stops the flow then it backs up and leaks into cockpit area.
If you open the sunroof, look towards the rear corners and you will see
2 openings that are the drains. If the drain openings are clogged, you
will get water into the car from the sunroof.
This is a common issue, it is caused by a relay block that is mounted close to the sunroof motor, after time the main 2 relays on the block come loose and can be fixed by taking out and re-soldering them, i fixed mine and two other friends jeep sunroofs this way, works like a charm
There is nothing in the track blocking it but thank you.
