97 Accord drivers side window won't go up or down....
I have a 97 Honda Accord with power windows / locks. One day after many
months of my driver's side window going slower & slower on it's
climb back up, it just decided that it wouldn't roll up any more. It
rolled down just fine, and I never noticed any vibrations or weird
noises. It was half way down at that point, and eventually it got
rolled all the way down.
In the past I had noticed it had gotten off track and was trying to
roll up outside the beading on the outside of the window, I was able to
get it back on track and it improved for a while.
Then this happened & after a particularly rainy drive home, I took
it to a shop and they rolled the window back up. They said it worked
just fine when they applied power directly to the wiring. So that told
me I needed a new master switch assembly.
I purchased the new master switch assembly online. Got the new switch,
pulled the old one (man was it dirty!), installed the new one, plugged
all the wires back in, put the door panel back on, turned the car on,
pressed the button to roll it down and nothing. The driver's side
window won't budge. No sounds, nothing, just the clicking of the new
switch.
It did fix my problem of not being able to roll up the back passenger
window from the master switch. But I really needed the drivers side
window to operate so I can get the car inspected.
I checked all the fuses, wire connections and the relay must be good otherwise none of
the other windows would work. Since the motor worked before and
hasn't been used in over 6 months I'm guessing the motor is still fine.
So this is my stop before going back to that shop & seeing if they
can remember what the hell they did to my window to keep it from
rolling down... Help!!
Re: 97 Accord drivers side window won't go up or down....
Window motors & regulators go bad every day. Pull your door panel, unplug the motor, if you have an ohm meter apply the leads to the leads into the motor. One will be ground the other two will raise and lower (reverse) the motor. If you show resistance between the leads the motor windings are good and the problem may be the window regulator. If you do not have an ohm meter, you can run two wires (one ground, the other hot) and test the motor by applying elec to it.

I would check the switch. I had a 97 Accord LX coupe for 20 years and replaced the driver window regulator several times (had been hit on that side so I dont think things lined up right, wearing out the regulator). Every time the regulator messed up it was because the cable that attaches to the window would break at a plastic piece. The window would almost always fall into the door. Once the cable was loose and got wrapped around something but the window still fell down some. Regulator would make a horrible grinding noise as the cable got tangled. So if your window worked fine one day and nothing the next, I would start with the switch. It's possible the motor died, but that never happened to me, even with cheap aftermarket units. Could also be a broken wire. Might need to take door panel off and test for power at the plug for the regulator. If power- replace regulator. If no power- keep working back to the switch. I replaced the power mirror control with a used one from ebay, so it's possible to find an oem switch.

94-97 Honda Accord Rear Side Window Install ... How to fixreplace install a broken power window regulator ..
I would say switch. How about the passenger side window switch itself? I have an 05 Accord coupe and so far so good, but for what it's worth my son's Mazda 3 driver side window was stalling now and then and I was actually able to clean the switch contacts with alcohol. Heard Honda sometimes has trouble addressing window problems, so there may be other components involved here.
try going to a junk yard your motor was fine but your controls are not buy the controls and change them hondas do this when the resistance is burned out Junk Yard is the best place to find something simple as this 2 screws 3 plugs basic plug in play deal
you need to replace window rubber runners to cure this problem.hell of a job......or you could try silicon, with the windows down place a small amount onbottom of runners then wind them up then down several times to spread silicon around try not to get it all over the glass......
Hi" make sure your window lock is not active on drivers window switches if ok replace passenger side window switch, its not your motor ,it would,t work whit driver side switch
possibly your power window regulator is out. basically check the fuses first to make sure you have not blown that, if it is good, then you can order a new window regulator from the dealer or online @ autopartswarehouse.com. to replace the window regulator you will need to will need to remove the door panel, start with the screws on the handle and the arm rest, covered with a plastic cap. the door panel which can be pryed from the bottom with a flat blade screw driver or flat pry bar, it will make a snapping sound. three bolts on the regulator 4 bolts on the window tracks and 2 bolts securing the window, re assemble as you have taken apart, Good Luck!!
