2001 kia sportage overheats after about 20 minutes of driving when the a/c is on.
How many miles has this car done.Does your vrhicle have electric fan does it cut in
You first must check your antifreeze and engine oil to and make sure they are at the proper level on flat level ground ok ///next you have 2 separate fans# 1 is a stationary fan that has an engine fan clutch and rotates from engine power the second one #2 is for the air conditioner condenser assembly and you must check this while someone puts on the a/c you should here it come on but I would like you to just sit while the engine warms up to full operating temperature and wait to see if the Guage starts to climb up into the hot zone without the a/c on first then drive for 15 -20 minutes with it still off this is to make sure your thermostat is open and not causing the overheating if ok now turn on the a/c and listen for the fan to come on it should be on right away when a/c is on if not either the relay or fuse is bad or the fan has reached its lifespans end your vehicle is now 18-19 years old by build date on the sticker so you can run direct voltage to it but it's most likely done also check your belt tensioner to make sure it's tight keeping the stationary fans belt from slipping this will also cause the overheating from not enough fan rotation
Your fan speed won't go into his second position?
Radiator low on fluid? Fan not working?

Rule of thumb...unless you get a better answer: look for a couple of wires on a small plate that is in the airflow of the fan on the heater/ac unit. The resistor pack is always air cooled by the fan.
SOURCE: Driving down road, car stops,
why did you replace fuel pump? how many miles on engine? there is no reset button that i know of.
SOURCE: four wheel drive wont engage
I fought with this problem every year since I had the Sportage. And it was so frustrating to find out just when you really needed it, that you did not have 4-wheel drive. I replaced the hubs with manual hubs and I wish I would have done it at the beginning. They work great and are 100% reliable. Bottom line.. the vacuum hubs were a great idea that just plain did not work reliably. Save yourself alot of grief and money and just replace the hubs. Less than $200 including paying someone to put then on and I now can rely on my Sportage when I need it.
SOURCE: hold lite and and a p1624 code on a 2001 sportage
Code number p1624 is MIL Request Signal from TCM to ECM. which means malfunction indication light(MIL) is requesting a signal from your engine control module(ECM) or Transmission control module(TCM) i would reccomend u take it to the dealership to get it checked out.
SOURCE: Timing belt broke on my kia sportage...
Check solutions for Kia Sportage under heading. Need timing marks and ignition wiring by Brattlehead. The markings I gave him will also work for your 2001 Sportage
