Locking failed, how do I fix?

My dad and an electrician friend were replacing the factory stereo in my hyundai elantra 2005, having all the wires in the correct place the stereo wouldn't work, the constant 12v was not showing constant and then when I went out to get more parts I discovered that the locking was no longer working, the indicator lights weren't going on and none of the doors would lock unless done manually, and would not unlock unless done manually, the alarm not working as it normally does when I unlock it manually, checked all the fuses and don't know what to do?

SOURCE: 2001 Hyundai Elantra door locking problem

there is a short or a signal from the un-locking switch that is triggering your locks.

you have a switch manually to lock and un-lock your doors, the unlocking circuit is making contact.

you can try playing with your switch to un-short the switch or open it up ang check it.

SOURCE: VW Polo 2000 1.4 16V Blowing fuse for Central locking / windows

car electrics are a nightmare. the car lights up when a door is open i presume. and by bypassing the central locking. the electric computer says there is a fault. and will not start. that i think is programed in. best thing to do is. go to phone VW dealer ask about diagnostic test without repair. about £35 then fix it yourself. they garentee it right I think. the dealers have come into line better with that kind of thing phone and ask anyway.

Please dont worry yourself so much the security locks needs to be reprogrammed to enable it work effectively. Same happens to other vehicles as well.

Consult Hyundai garage close to you or if you have it in your manual.

Good luck.

2011 Hyundai Elantra New transmission but vehicle runs in limp mode intermittently

As my old dad used to say "they must have seen you coming"! Are you, young, female, blonde and cute? :>D

Engine tick is caused by play in the valve lifters and is an easy repair. It may have been the timing chain, but.... "Elantra's new, maintenance-free silent timing chain enhances engine durability while reducing noise." In normal circumstances, tick is not a reason to put in a new engine.

It sounds like your issue is bad connectors to the ECU. They spraying the connectors with electrical switch cleaning spray.

If that doesn't work, you need a good auto electrician with a professional grade scan tool computer to diagnose the issue. These computers can record exactly what happens to put the vehicle into Limp Mode.
