SOURCE: 2000 daewoo won't shift from park and no brake lights

Sounds like the park/brake shift interlock switch is bad.

Or

"An actuator solenoid and module assembly, located on the lower portion of the steering column, locks the shifter in Park whenever it receives a signal that the ignition switch is in the ON position. When the module receives a signal from the Brake On-Off (BOO) switch that indicates the brake pedal is depressed, it unlocks the shifter so that it can be shifted out of Park."

It says the most common failures in the system are the fuse and the BOO switch, and if they are fine, special tools are needed to diagnose.

To disable the system: Apply the parking brake, turn the ignition key to LOCK, then remove the key. Insert the key and turn it to OFF. Press the brake pedal. Shift to neutral, start the vehicle and select the desired gear.

SOURCE: No Brake Lights, unable to switch from park to drive

It is not the multifunction switch. The power feed goes thru the brake switch before the multi function. You have no power the the brake switch because your shift interlock is not allowing you to shift it. I'll look up the wiring diagram and repost with a solution.

SOURCE: My 1992 honda Accord wont shift out of park, the

The interlock solenoid is provide with power by the Transmission control module (tcm) when the brake pedal is applied3f09359.jpg and then grounded by the gear selector switch in park. If you access the connector to the tcm, you can check to see if it's getting a ground signal and check the solenoid. Pull the harness connector off the tcm and apply 12v to the harness connector pin that leads to the white wire with a green stripe as seen in the diagram. If the solenoid clicks, you may have a bad tcm. If the solenoid does not click, you may have a bad solenoid, or bad selector switch. The tcm is under the front passenger footwell.

Car wont shift out of park and wont start.97 Toyota 4Runner...automatic transmission

First check the fuses. Look at your brake lights to see if they work. The release lever to take it out of park in on the brake light switch so if the brakes lights are not working you will not be able to drive. The solenoid that detaches the lever could also be bad.
The no start? does the engine crank over or is there no noise at all? If it does not crank, could have transmission safety switch that is out of adjustment.

When car is in PARK mode, you can start the motor, but can't get it off PARK - this is because brake lights are dead. Replaced the fuse, and all is OK till I kill the engine, after braking. Again the same...

Possibly the brake switch itself. Many cars come equipt with a safety feature that won't allow shifting from park unless foot is on the brake. If you have a bad brake switch, this could prevent you from shifting from park as well as giving the impression that the brake lights are bad. hope this answers your question. All the best.

Wont shift out of park, brake lights dont work

your brake switch is broken, its on the top of brake peddle. It wont shift from park because you need to press brake to shift from park and with the switch not working it doesn't know your pressing the brake. check connection on switch if its fine you need to replace.

In my toyota sr7 1993 3.0l pickup when i turn it on it wont shift from park to any other gear, do you have any idea why it would do this and a solution for it?

You have a problem with the shift inter lock when you put the key in the ignition and step on the brake pedal a signal is sent not only to the brake light but also to the shift interlock so the problem can reside in the brake pedal or the shift interlock itself step on the brake pedal see if you ahve brake light if you dont check the fuse for brake lights, for a 1993 there is the engine junction box in thhe engine comparartment and one under the dash also safely with ebrake on turn key on go to the brake pedal do you see the brake switch press it and have some one see if the gear will change.if it does replace the brake switch if it doesnt the shift interlock itself has to be addressedcansmo_134.gifcansmo_135.gif

Ford Expedition 2001 that wont shift out of Park

Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system prevents the shifting from PARK unless the brake pedal (2455) is depressed. The shift interlock system consists of a shift lock actuator (3Z719) mounted at the base of the steering column tube (3514). If the ignition switch (11572) is in the RUN position, the shift lock actuator is continually on unless the brake pedal is depressed.

Thier is also the shift lock actuator ! plus wiring . You have a short to ground on that circuit . Do you know how to Find a short ? videos on youtube .
None of the power windows work ? Check for broken wires inside the rubber boot from the body to drivers door !
