SOURCE: Lower Control Arm Bushing replacement

Hi,
I just did this job on my 98 regal, and I own the service manuals also. The lower control arm bushing that usually goes, is the front one. The rear one doesn't usually go, it is horizontally mounted. The front one for some reason is vertical. The control arm must be removed, and put in a vise. The front bushings outer metal sleeve, must be driven out with a chisel. It comes out easily. The new bushing can be tapped in with a hammer. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: For a 1996 Nissan Maxima, can I replace the lower

Hi there, This may seem like a generic answer. But its a good idea. Best thing to do is buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual at your local AP store for your particular vehicle. Then read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step RR section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy

SOURCE: how to replace uper lower control arm bushings in

The control arm must be removed from the vehicle. Then the control arm bushings are pressed in and out with a ball joint press.
Another option is to take the control arm in and have the bushings pressed for you.

2001 buick century front lower ball joint installation

The ball joint can be pressed in and out but specialist tools will be needed. You will need to remove the whole Wishbone, (Control Arm), anyway to remove the old joint and re-install the new one. It would be a lot easier, cheaper and a lot quicker to just replace the entire wishbone as a complete unit.
Once the vehicle is SAFELY supported on Axle stands you are unlikely to need specialist tools to swap the wishbone.

How to remove the lower control arm

Below are some pictures and instructions. I do not believe you need to remove the whole steering gear assembly but don't quote me on that. You may have a hard time with the ball joint but guessing you are replacing the whole control arm with a ball joint already installed. That's the easiest way incase you do damage that ball joint. Hope this helps with your project....
