why do i have a hard brake pedal when off, soft to the floor when its running?
That is an easy one! You have leaking break cylinders! I just had that problem.. The smallest leak will cause your pedal to go to floor when running! It is firm when not running cause the vacuum assist is not running! I had my mobile mechanic do my brakes! Good luck with that and have those cylinders checked! I hope this helps!
do you mean the calipers, or the master cylinder
The cylinders on the brake assemblies! They are pumps the caliper or pads
OOPs meant they are what pumps the calipers or pads! You can check by removing tires and inspecting for fluid leaks!
no leaks jeff
i have no leaks thou
You may have a mechanic check it out! I couldn't see any leaks in mine either! It doesn't take much to make you lose pressure !!!! I'll bet thats what it is! Ok Good luck with that!

SOURCE: In order for me to be able to brake the car, I
EITHER YOU STILL HAVE AIR IN BRAKE SYSTEM OR YOU HAVE FAULTY BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER.IF BRAKE PEDAL WAS GOING TO THE FLOOR FIRST OF ALL AND BRAKE FLUID WAS NOT LOW.MOST LIKELY BRAKE MASTERCYLINDER IS FAILING.
