there is a small alan screw in the base of the backup mirror. loose it and slide the mirror back on to teh base on the windshield and tighten down the alan screw.
SOURCE: How do you remove the rear view mirror from mount.
Is the mount made of metal or plastic? In either case, it will be attached to a "base" that is glued to the windshield. A metal mount should have a tiny little screw in it that pins it against the base. Loosen this crew and the mount should slide upwards (towards roof) off the base. A plastic mount should have a tab that you can pull on and slide it off upwards....
Testimonial: "Exactly what we thought was the correct way. But they found that the previous owner had also glued the mirror stem to the mount. "

There are three ways usually...
You'll need to remove a screw securing the base onto the mount (usually on metal bases)
You'll need to lift up a clip on the bottom of the base and then slide the base off the mount (usually on plastic rectangular bases
You'll need to twist the base about 45 - 90 degrees so that it slips off of the mount (usually on bases that are circular)
Testimonial: "Excellent response and timely! I am attempting to find the right "tool" to pry up the internal clip...a flatblade screwdriver doesn't seem to do it."
SOURCE: Rear View Mirror- does anyone know how to remove the metal plate
There is a set screw in it,just remove it,if it does not come off, then use finger polish remover,or acid tone,to remove the glue,it is not supposed to have glue holding it to the mirror ,but some may have got in there,if this was helpful, please rate, and thank you.
