The WD 40 to all doors latching mechanism worked ! I used a screwdriver to rapidly simulate the open and closing of the latch.

It is possible the door switch is bad, or having issues.

It is a sticky sensor in the door latch mechanism. Spray it w/ WD-40 and follow up with a dose of silicone spray. Open/close doors several times and it should be ok. If you have a problem with 1 door the other 3 are sure to follow---DO THIS TO ALL 4 DOORS!!!!!!!!!

the door switches are part of the door latch, the easiest way to remedy this is to spray liberal amounts of WD40 into each latch and open and close the each door a few times, this should loosen up the latch and solve your problem.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2003 LINCOLN TOWNCAR DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN DOORS CLOSE

yes i agree with ripoff, If you are unable to do it yourself , then I suggest you go to a regular shop, and they should replace it with minimal cost, buy the part for eight dollars and bring it with you to the shop so that all you have to pay is labor, if it is really easy like i suspect you may not be charged at all, or even ask one of the guys if you give them a couple of bucks will they switch it real quick.
hey, I would do it..

The door ajar light comes on and stays on when door is closed. then you can't use any computer services. is there a drivers door sensor, if so where, or is it in the computer itself.

The switch for "door ajar" is located in each door, attached to the latch mechanism. This is a common problem. Using your favorite petroleum based lubricant, spray it liberally into the door latch mechanism (as seen from the rear face of the door). Open and close the door several times. Go from door to door, doing this for each one, until you find which door was causing the issue. You might have to re-lube the doors from time to time, but this should solve your problem.

Good luck.

How do i fix my door ajar problem? It came on today and now my interior lights stay on when I turn the car off. I have repeatedly open and closed all the doors but the problem is still happening.

The door ajar switch is located inside the rear door face along with the latch. They can tend to get dirty and sticky over time. Using your favorite petroleum based lubricating spray, shoot it directly into the door latch area, being very liberal. Open and close your doors several times to make sure the switch is working freely. You should do this one door at a time so you can diagnose which door is causing the issue in case it resurfaces. Should be good to go.

Good luck

I keep having my door ajar warning on the drivers door come on which keeps my interior lights on wut do and how do i fix this? and this happens when my doors are all closed and while driving.my door locks...

spray your door lock with dw40. sounds like the sensor in your door frame is not making correct contact. look on your door frame. all door frames. and see if you can spot any torn rubber or anything that could cause the sensor to not correctly close
