They usually keep the same color throughout the sytem. Look at the color of the wires at the sensor, the connectorss at the dash should be the same, providing that's where it goes.

1994 prizm speedometer eratic tried 3 used clusters and replaced sensor New schematic shows ckt runs through ECM is this a possibility

automatic or stick shift car???????
prizm = toyota corolla, (vast parts to be had and books on same)
1994
what are the symptoms, not guessing I need all facts on symptoms.
lets see. 1.6L engine or 1.8L , sorry they are not the SAME>
so what engine is there?

fuses test good?
car drives perfectly, all other electrics run ok , all lighting ok.
bad cluster , well what is bad, tacho, speedo, odometer, gauges, warning lamps. what?
say all things in the cluster that work and not work.
then and only then can any one give good advice.
ill run with only speedo needle bounces,
most 90s cars love to do that, its a fact. (high miles)
if need speedo and dead odometer that is unique.
that is correct more modern cars, all deleted that speedo cable
long long ago and is now a 10cent wire from cluster to ECU.
as did yours.
since the ECU knows speed already why not let it do the job for free. and did.
end history class but, the odd duck cars exist.

first thing to do is learn that the cars ECU has flash codes
you jumper 2 pins on a DLC, and the ECU flashes the CEL lamp with codes, if the code for VSS is set BINGO transmission VSS is dead, or erratic. code 42 tells you VSS is bad. does it flash 42?

The ECU uses speed, to calculate load and fuel better , knowing this facts.

but in your case its 1/2 true, the odd duck, the toyota way in 1994
is to have the VSS sensor drive the cluster
and the cluster speed drives the ECU.
(have book in hand from mitchells online, so can you of you look)

V3 is bad, (or as in all electrics, (laws) wires./loose/bad, there.
VSS means veh. speed sensor
my guess is you will ask where is it, like all here do not wanting
to pop 15bucks to read at mitchels.
At 55 mph:= 48 Hz ( the signal speed on it) square wave.

where it is depends on auto or stickshift
but its FWD and this sensor in on the side with axle ring gear
i guess.
the 3 wire sensor with R-Y, R-G and R-L color wires is a BINGO.

I need the wire colors for instrument cluster

The only way is to buy the manual for the truck, or take off the main pannel and have a look yourself and write them on a bit of paper
This is simple to do.

Dodge neon speed sensor needs to be replaced. Need to know how to do it myself

The speed sensor is located in the lower transaxle and it looks exactly like the coil plug in. It is a two or three wire sensor with one retaining bolt holding in. Once the bolt is removed, you may have to wiggle and pry a little to get it out. The wire colors should be black & light blue for ground, orange for power supply, and possible white with orange stripe for the gauge cluster. The power to the sensor comes from the ignition switch 15amp fuse in fuse block. Click on the link below to read more:

Speedometer just stopped workin its like 180 is actually o km/h and then it wont go down past 180

Hi. There is a speed sensor mounted on the transmission. Check the wires that lead from the sensor to the instrument cluster in your dash. Make sure the speedometer is connected to the sensor, and the connection is not loose. If the wiring at the sensor, and speedometer are ok, simply replace the speed sensor.

I have a 1996 VW Jetta, odomoter and speedometer

Either you have a broken wire some where from the speed sensor to the cluster or you have connector at fault, the one which hookup the dash cluster to the main wire bundel. Check the connector, maybe a pushed back pin !!

Looking for wiring diagram

there is o actual single wire carying the vehicle speed signal to the cluster. the speedometer receives a signal over what is called the can bus system. the wheel speed sensors send a signal to the antilock brake module which in turns sends a signal to the pcm. the pcm then sends a signal over the can bus system to various controllers including the cluster. you can not tap into this wires as it will effect the entire system
