Sometimes my rodeo won't start. when i turn the key on and off repeatedly i will hear the sending unit energize. at first i thought that was the fuel pump but my manual says the fuel pumps are located on the motor. this noise is coming from the gas tank area. every time i hear this noise it will start. I read a consumer report about a wire that likes to corrode by the right rear wheel that im assuming is to the sending unit (it said the fuel pump) but I am unable to find that report again. my rodeo also periodically misses when i am driving. thank you

You are hearing the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. It does this to charge the system to 40 psi. then it shuts off, unless the engine is running. You only want the pump to run when the engine is running. So, the pump runs for 5 seconds, then runs during cranking, and runs when engine is running. maybe the fuel pump relay is cutting out or the computer is shutting the pump down after the engine is running. both very unlikely. You are hearing the fuel pump run for 5 seconds. Most of fuel pumps were in tank, wire corrodes is harness under right front seat floor pan to tank
if fuel pump buzz is heard and car runs and when it doesnt run you cant hear the fuel pump try
turn ignition off wait 10 seconds
turn ignition to on position to (prime or hear pump buzz)
no buzz fuel pump not working check fuel pump relay(swap with another) and try again?
you could use test light to pump wiring and make sure your getting power to pump on this prime test no power relay or wiring problem.
power at pump, but no buzz fuel pump faulty

First, check the fuse for the fuel sending unit to be sure there's power going to it. Next, turn the key to 'power on' but don't start it and try to hear the sending unit 'humm' while it's priming the lines.
If you can hear it or you know there's power, pull the key and get underneath and disconnect the fuel line just after the filter and put the key back in and turn it back to the power on, but no start. If everything's good then fuel will start coming out of the lines and you know that there's most likely a blockage further downstream and it's not a faulty sending unit. Good luck!
Test for ground and power at your fuel pump connector. Also, the sending units sometimes come without the pump itself wired in. You have to actually splice in connections sometimes. If you get stuck, dropping the tank again and removing the sending unit to inspect could be your next step.
not knowing what kind of vehicle it is it is hard to tell. some gm cars and trucks have oil sending units that will not allow the vehicle to start unless it has oil pressure. they start going out and sometimes they start and sometimes they won"t.
Try Replacing your gas sending unit or gas pressure sensor unit, both fairly east to replace with minimal expenses. If this does not fix the problem then change the fuel pump. But start with the gas sending unit.
This is a fuel sending unit code and it directly
related to you goofy gas gauge. This is a common problem in 2nd Gen
Isuzus. The fuel sending unit needs to be replaced. Most places will
tell you that you must replace the entire fuel pump assembly module but
you can buy just the sending unit.
Other faults to refer this problem and other codes: P0141, P0300, P0404, P1404, P1627, with this synthoms: hesitates sometimes on takeoff, gas gauge gives random
readings(sometimes will read empty, or full, or somewhere in between),
Fuel light flashes sometimes.
Try cycleing ur key a few times before actually cranking it alot of the time wen a fuel pump is about to go it wont prime cycling the key will prime it. As for the fuel gauge thats part of the fuel pump its called a sending unit and in the jeeps its all in one unit. it sounds like your fuel pump is about to go tho. i had the same problem with my 93 jeep grand cherokee laredo. i replaced the fuel pump and it runs fine now u can get it from your local autozone for about 140. hope this helps let me know
most vehicles do have to have tank removed some vehicles have there tank sending unit doors under the floor board looks like a round door bolted to the floor but your probably going to be droping tank
