Those distributors get a lot of heat and vibration. Check all wires inside distributor and coil for loose connections.

You don`t say what year this is so I will guess this has a distributor, check for power at the ignition coil and coming out of the coil on the wires. then check for spark coming out of the coil. check the distributor cap and rotor for cracks and burn areas that will allow the spark to go to ground and not the plugs.

87 dodge ram (318 V8) what is spark plug gap? Was told. 040 .045 & .050 which one is correct?

I would stick with .045 depending on the plug. The hotter the spark plug, the bigger the gap can be.

#1 spark plug wire for 83 Chrysler 5th ave 318

On a 318 #1 is at 6:00 o'clock on the distributor when you are looking at it from the front of the car. It turns clockwise and the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. Odd cylinders are on the driver's side starting from the rad and even on the passenger's. Hope this helps.

I have a bmw 318 ti 95 my problem is it keeps misfiring and has a poor idol

you may want to check the engine's timing. You may want to check also the spark plugs as it may tell you if you are advanced or not. A black tip spark plug would tell you that the timing is late while a little white is advanced. You need is a light brown color. If there is no problem on the timing you may want to check on the fast idle control valve and pcv if it needs a little cleaning.

318 timing chain setting m42 engine with out bmw tools

Remove the cam cover, remove the spark plugs, turn the engine to number 1 TDC, put a pencil in spark plug hole number one and twist the crank back and forth and make doubly sure you are at TDC. Now loosen the four bolts at the front of each cam sprocket, check TDC again with the pencil and rocking the crank, now take the pencil and lay it across the flats at the back of each cam. Twist the cams very carefully so that the pencil sits flat on each cam square. Snug up the sprocket bolts and use the pencil to check TDC again! Now check the cams again. Repeat the procedure until you have the cams flat and the engine at TDC.
