You will be best off bringing the car in for service. If the anti-lock signal comes on, it means that your ABS system has a fault and you do not have anti-lock brakes functioning. When the light comes on the car runs on your brakes alone, no anti-lock.

To check the codes and the ABS system, the car should really be serviced.

Good luck!!

SOURCE: I have a 2002 buick

One of the things you will want to check is your speed sensors, some times they will also cause your ABS light to come on, and they relate to your Transmission electronics that is why the Check Engine light comes on.

SOURCE: Olds Alero 99 Left front hub assembly

It sounds more like it's the wheel speed sensor that is part of the hub/bearing assembly. Since you have had the hub replaced many times I would look for the electrical connectors for the wheel speed sensor as the problem. An easy no cost fix.

BTW...GM has issued a service bulletin for the hub/bearing kit that states NOT to use the old style nut that comes in some kits as it will cause premature bearing failure due to it's design and the high torque requirements. The correct shaft spindle nut part number to use is p/n 10289657 and is torqued to 178 nm. The GM bulletin number is 03-04-18-001.

SOURCE: 2002 Buick Century anti-lock brake problems

i recently had this problem too, except i had all the lights on (ABS, service vehicle, trac-off, AND service engine) they are all easy to fix without spending more than 20-30$ for labour (depending how much your mechanic charges you) mine did it for free and he found out why the engine light is on afterwards too. so to fix all these lights (abs, trac-off, and service vehicle you MUST get another ABS cable (i went to a garage, they were towing a GM vehicle to the junk yard so i grabbed some scissors and cut BOTH abs cables on each side (good thing i did because one was bad) and braught them to my mechanic. the reason the lights come on is probably a defect or in my case my mechanic said it was salt buildup in the wires (on the drivers side) so he cut the wire off and rewired the new one and BOOM all the lights came off (service vehicle, abs, and trac-off) now for my service engine it says catalytic converter but im trying to put some fuel system cleaner to help it out i read somewhere that this is a defect of the car, so if you dont have that light yet, SELL your car ASAP for as much as you can get for it (after fixing the lights of course) and always google (car name+recalls) in the search bar to see what youre getting into, take care

SOURCE: anti lock and trac off lights on in a 2003 buick

Probably pointing to one or more of your wheel speed sensors having problems. Have the ABS codes scanned on the vehicle. This should help give direction on where to look next. Also, check tire pressure, as uneven pressure can cause this condition.

Why is my trac off light on

It is the anti lock brake system. First, look at the ABS. It will come on for a bad wheel sensor or broken wire. This will also throw the trac light on. ABS is on because the computer senses the one tire is trying to stop or lock up. this releases the brake pressure. On the traction light(which should also throw the ABS light), one tire is spinning faster that another. This can happen on gravel, sand or snow/ice. When you turn the key on, do you have an ABS light on, then goes off? Same with a trac light. If you do, then you have a bad wheel sensor. Scan it and replace it.

My problem is the same as most others. Anti-lock brakes, service engine soon, trac off lights on. Before they would come on intermittemtly bu recently stays on. Called GM last week and was told to take it...

Your anti lock brake light is part of your traction contol lights so that is most likely a wheel sensor and would be a separate problem from your check engine light.
Do you have an auto parts store near by? They can check these codes for free if so

The rear wheels only literally lock up and the lights on my dash are in orange on the right it says Trac Off. On the right of my dash it says - Anti Lock. This has happened to me 3 times - - my vin #...

Well Carol, to be quite honest, your problem is not easy to DIY and it probably won't be super cheap to fix. The "Trac OFF" light indicates that the Traction Control is not on or not functioning properly. This usually means that the TCM or Traction Control Module is bad. The "Anti Lock" light indicates that you most likely have one or more wheel sensors that are bad, or the ABS (Antilock Breaking System) has a bad module. You may also want to check out some forums on the buick century. It seems as thought the problems you are experiencing, are quite common in the Buick Century. Here are a few links that may help you narrow it down and possibly find a manufacturers recall on the problem. Hope this helps.

My brake lights won't go off even when I cut off the engine, I'm getting a message that says trac off and anti lock in yellow on the left side

Hello: Check the brake light switch. It is mounted on/near the brake pedal before you attempt to repair brake and anti lock lights.

Anti-Lock Brale l;ight and Trac Light stay on....Brake pads were just replaced! When driving through puddled water, car looses power steering capability

ABS/Trac Lights are often caused by dirty or broken Wheel Speed Sensor circuits.

The water can get into the power steering belt pulley causing slippage which can result in the power steering loss.
