How to remove cup holder - 2003 Nissan 350Z

To remove the cup holder/ashtray in a 2004 Mazda MPV, you can follow these steps:

1. Open the cup holder/ashtray and locate the small tab on the right-hand side of the unit.
2. Using a flathead screwdriver or other suitable tool, gently press down on the tab to release the retaining clip.
3. While holding down the tab, pull the cup holder/ashtray unit towards you to release it from the center console.
4. Once the unit is free, disconnect any wiring harnesses or light bulbs attached to it, if applicable.

To reinstall the cup holder/ashtray, simply reverse these steps, making sure the retaining clip snaps back into place when reinserting the unit into the center console.

usually as with glove boxes doors and such- they have some sort of side tab to push or pull to remove door or compartment holder- I would think the manufacture is not going to do any different on a cup holder - as you side it out- there probably a tab stop with it - the item about it in the image may have to be removed also to get cup holder out of the way. maybe it easier to remove side cover from panel to look behind holder

open the cup holder and under side of holder is a tag that needs to be pushed down whilst pulling gently on the cup holder , if the tag is not under neath it will be towards the dash end of the cup hole , depends on the part supplied at time of manufacture

the only way to fix this is the hard way.
you need to remove the pop out trim the holds the dash cup holder
carefully pry the edges around the trim to remove it
once its out you can unscrew the cup holder then try to see why its no longer working

right above the cup holder is a cover the length of the cup holder remove it pops out.
2 screws hold the cup holder 2 hold the bezel u only need to take the 2 for the bezel out. The rest will pop off and disconnect the connectors for the AC and so on.

the center console will prob. have to be removed , there are hiden screws, be patiant and thuroly look before just ripping out cup holder.

normally cup holders are bolted or fastened by a screw to its base, remove the screw and lift up the broken cup holder and install a new one...
