Do you have a 1.8T or the V6?

On the 1.8T, there is not timing mark on the crank. The mark is on the harmonic balancer. The corresponding mark is on the plastic cover for the timing belt, so to get TDC, you must first install the lower timing belt cover and then install the harmonic balancer.

Looking at the manual for the V6, it appears that it is the same. The marks are on the timing belt cover and harmonic balancer.

Diagram of timing specs on a 2000volkswagen Passat

There are several engines in a 2000 Passat, but none of them have adjustable timing that I know of. The main thing one needs are camshaft timing marks. If it is the 2.8 V6, I won't even begin to start because you need to rent cam position tools, and you need a book.
The Vr6 is a chain and you don't set cam timing normally.
The 1.8 turbo looks like the link, I believe.

On a 2007 vw 2.0 passat where are the timing marks

If you're lucky there should be an arrow or notch on the rear cam cover near the cam sprocket and another mark on the cam sprocket itself. Otherwise there is a set of special tools to lock the crank and cam in place.

Here's so you can see:

Then use a paint pen to mark the crankshaft gear - some have one short too, some have a dot some have nothing hence the reason it's easier to mark it yourself.

When it is in time were are the time mark be at cams & cranke

You will need the manual to see where the timing marks are.The timing marks should have been aligned before you removed the old belt.In short, how to do it is find #1 cyl tdc, both valves closed, look at the camshafts and there will be 2 marks one is marked "E",the othe"I"These 2 marks vary on each engine and its a must to have the correct setting which is only in the manual. With the crank set at TDC,both cams aligned ,then reset your belt.Dont forget to allow for the tensioner when you release the tension as the cams will turn slightly.I would recommend getting the book as you will never get it right without it.For $20,its a good investment

I looking for the timing belt marks for a 99 camry cam and crank

I don't know. I'm working on and 04 RAV 4, it has chains. But I just want to suggest that you get a Haynes or Chilton repair manual from autoparts store. Invaluable! Good luck.

1999 vw golf timing belt...

this is a direct quote when I asked about a timing belt on a 99 passat

"The timing should be Good unless you have Problems with a Rough Idle."

the person has an 85% accuracy rating, so he seems to know what he is talking about. however, if its of major concern to you, its better to replace it before it snaps, adding more money to the repair.
