Intermittent start problem, what can cause this. No one can seem to find the problem.

I am usually stranded for 30 minutes once the car refuses to start. I have taken to several places and no one can create the problem. It doesn't refuse to start each time, more like every 5th crank. But once it stops I have to wait 30 minutes or so for it to work again.

Had same issue... Was a bad relay in the security anti theft system. Bang on module when trying to start should identify if that's it. Replacing module did the trick for me. It's a mechanic job as it requires reprogramming remotes

When is the last time you changed the oil? It sounds like you have gummed up your motor.

SOURCE: 99 Kia Sephia. Since I

This sounds like a dirty Idle Air Control valve (symptoms would include rough idling to no starts) or a faulty one. Check the battery first using a voltmeter. If there is none, a simple test is to jumpstart it using another idling car. If the car starts then it may just be a battery issue. If it runs, after a few minutes remove the negative terminal of the battery see if it keeps idling. If not then it may be a bad alternator and is not charging your battery correctly. Alternators may cause the engine to run rough. Check if you have spark on the plugs when you remove them one at a time and put them over the engine. It may just be a bad high tension wire or a bad distributor if multiple pkugs gas no spark when starting the engine. If you have spare carb cleaners you may try to spray the intake right after the air filter to clean out the MAF sensor.

SOURCE: 05 kia spectra will not start

I have the same problem. However, I found that I have to simultaneously, push in the clutch, turn the key with my left hand, and move the shifter from one gear to the next until it starts. Has works for a week or so, but, I just ordered a new "Neutral Safety Switch" in hopes that that's the problem.

98 silverado 5.7 hard starting when warmed up starts fine cold what could cause this?

check for a bad fuel pump relay. One of the first signs of a failing DME/Fuel Pump is difficult hot starting. Quite often when the DME/Fuel Pump relay starts failing the car will start without problems when it is cold. However, when the car has been operated at normal operating temperature for a while, it will refuse to start. Its worth a try! (usually 30 minutes to 1 hour), the car will again start without problem. Is this the case! Good-Day!

I have a problem with my 2003 Yukon losing power and intermittent power to the radio. While driving it will just start decelerating and a light saying reduced power come on. It also hesitates to start but...

Check all fuses in your power box. Sounds like could be electrical short. Check connections and grounds to alternator and starter and battery. Also check coils, plugs etc.

Once resolved, try a can of SeaFoam from Canadian tire $12.00..put half in a full tank of gas and the other half in your oil. Do this when the engine is warm, not hot. Let it sit for 30 minutes then take it for a 10 minute drive and see the difference. Save hundreds in injector flushing. This should alleviate the hard starts.cheers.

If you had a bunch of cracks in your distributor cap it may have caused the pick up coil under the distributor cap to go bad and cause this problem.

Car not starting - Intermittent

intermitten problems are the worse, when it wont start check fuel pressure with a gauge, and then check for spark, i have spent days on problems such as this, what you have to find is what is missing, fuel ,spark, is maybe coolant leaking into one or more cyls, i have seen air in the fuel system that only cause problems when under hood temp is high, open the hood and it cools enough to to start, hope this helps

Start of day. Engine starts and runs fine. Drive 5 minutes to school. 1 hour later, try to start car. Cranks and cranks. Will not turn over. (Lights: key-in-ignition-position: all lights turn off but check...

There are usually three things that cause this problem. Either 1. your car is intermittenly having the power supply to the ignition interrupted, i.e., loose battery cable or ground, or ignition module, etc 2. your alternator is failing intermittenly, or 3. Your fuel pump is going out. The most common is the fuel pump, especially with your symptoms. The way you test, is, when it won't start, shoot a little fuel into the throttle body, and see if it hits and dies, or hits and keeps going, etc. These things are notoriously intermittent, and of course, you can only troubleshoot something when it's currently not working. As for the alternator, you'll usually have some other warning sign, such as a battery light, or failure of instruments, etc. As for the ignition module, it's more of a remote chance that I included as an option. Hope this helps you out.

95 Ford T-Bird Doesn't Always Start

I had the same problem and it left me stranded and my wife several times. The only part that gives the signal to the tach also gives the signal to your ignition. Change out the crank position sensor, mounted on the lower right front of the engine by the A/C compressor. You will need to loosen up the compressor and move it out of the way, but in all roughly about a 2 hour job depending how much the compressor fights ya.

Intermittent starting problem -2004 Porsche Boxster s

it is your ignition switch, you need to replace it, you can do this by removing the plastic casing around the steering column, remove the ignition by taking out all of the bolts and putting a new one in, once you remove the plastic casing you will see how to remove the ingnition, just a few bolts.
