THEY ARE SEPARATE PROBLEMS, YOUR GAS GAUGE PROBLEM COULD BE ELECTRICAL OR THAT YOU NEED TO REPLACE YOUR FUEL PUMP WHICH IS INSIDE THE GAS TANK. AS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM, IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS THE SWITCH BEING BROKEN.

1993 F250 Cruise control does not work how to troubleshoot

The cruise control system is controlled by engine vacuum, like many other engine components. A split in one vacuum line can cause an array of devices to stop functioning properly. A visual inspection is usually the best way to start, but vacuum gauge is the best way to determine if all the lines are receiving proper vacuum. They branch out from the vacuum tree, adjacent to the throttle body. The tree feeds various vacuum controlled devices, boosters, and solenoids. Older vacuum style cruise control systems have a large control actuator which can be tucked away between the engine block and the inner wheel well. Here is an illustration which may help.

It also doesn't hurt to check the fuse or relay for the cruise control system

Sometimes when I am speeding, I notice the car seems to be braking when I am not hold or matching any of the brake's pedals... after a while it relaeses and the car starts accelarating well again...

adaptive cruise control is regulating speed or perhaps if a newer car, it may have collision-warning system because even when cruise control is off they may maintain following distance.

Cruise does not engage, what is up?

Dont mess with this one,, get it checked by the dealer or good mechanic,, it is likely the actuator or one of the cables has gone bad
or it could be a vaccum line,
It is also quite dangerous if it malfunctions,, in the on position and catches you off guard, could cause a collision
Best of luck

Could Rear end damage from a wreck cause my speedometer and gas gauges to stop working?

You must understand that collision stresses the ENTIRE vehicle. Just because it was hit from behind, does not mean that there is not collision damage in the front. I had a vehicle in my shop several years ago that was hit from the rear. The engine began knocking shortly after. It turned out that the collision had jarred the engine hard enough to cause the crankshaft to crack. This type of damage is extremely rare, but can happen. Trying to convince the insurance company that this was collision damage was a real trick.... On the other hand, fuel sending unit failures are quite common (without any collision) and can cause your fuel gauge to stop working.

The only way to determine if your problems are caused by the collision would be to first diagnose the problem. Only then can it be determined if the current failure is caused by collision or possibly caused by a more commonly known failure type.

I was in a front end collision last month which led to a new waterpump and radiator. ever since then my coolant has been "disappearing" (also the temperature gauge in my car doesn't work). Initially I...

The temperature indicator doesn't work because the temperature sensor is not connected or faulty.
The only other way your coolant can dissapear is thru boiling so most likely the fan isn't working - check it if it has power, its control sensor and relay are doing their job and the fan itself is in working order.

My 2008 Avalon cruise control increments by 5 MPH when i toggle the cruise control up or down. The book says it should increment by 1 MPH. Can i change the increment amount or do i need to take it to a...

You have the Laser Adaptive cruise control. Using the adaptive cruise control, it does indeed increment by 5MPH increments. The dash indicator has a series of parentheses ((( to show that it is on. The advantage to the adaptive system is that a laser measures the distance to the car in front of you and will slow the car to match the car in front, maintaining distance. It will even brake for you if it detects a collision is imminent.

To turn off the adaptive system (revert to regular cruise control), push the cruise control lever straight back for more than 1 second. The parentheses in the dash indicator will disappear. When using conventional cruise control (non-adaptive), the con tol will then increment the speed by 1MPH increments.

This is covered in the user manual at the end of the cruise control section.

Good Luck!!
