Good day, this is one of my favorite, but weird fixes!
The lamps on your old chevy are dual element type, one element for the parking lights and other for the brake/signal. When you turn the signal on, it separates the brake lights on that side from the rear brake light allowing the rear lamp to flash instead of constant on. What happens is that an element / filament has broken and 'droops' down into the other element filament and gives a weird and unpredictable short circuit between the parking lamps, brake light and signal lamp flasher. Have seen this many, many times. Quick, cheap and dirty fix is to get a box of replacement bulbs (they are cheap!) for all the dual element bulbs on the car - front and rear (sometimes even the markers) and replace them
Check socket ground
SOURCE: 2004 monte carlo. turn signals dont work. the
try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.
