i believe the window swith is between the two vents....you have to carefully pry that off first then you will have to disconnect the window switch from the harness.....then pull all they climate control knobs off and gently pull all around the trim and you should have it off.

Check your oil dipstick for coolant, or a mucky substance. Your symptoms sound like a blown head gasket.

2001 pt cruiser over heating july 7 2009 - black pearl
pressured test system O K . Hydrocarben test for head gasket leak Tested O K . Ran car, temperature increased slowly to high temp , would cool down with heat exchanger on to help cool system . tested heat sensor , reading 230 degree check actual reading at sight found it was180 degree . replaced sensor., thermostat filled system and bleed air out completely and turned heater on . fill waited for fan to come on .filled then placed rad, cap . still over heats. I may have a few coils blocked in the radiator ,coolant looks very clean, but the over flow container has stain marks like rust color even though the fliud is clean . will change out radiator next. will recheck pcm the fan is running fine. Will kept you posted the Black Pearl

check the fluid in the radiator, and replace the thermostat the way it is positioned it could stop the flow from the radiator and keep the fan from turning off, I have found on several of them that I have worked on that the thermostat was bad. hope this helps. Only other things that would cause this or most common is the antifreeze is bad or the water pump is defective or you have a bad radiator hose but have not seen this on any I have worked on.
