Sounds like the electrical ignition switch needs replaced. it should be on top of steering column under the dash on drivers side.

My key don't come out of my ignition switch in smoke came out

You have wiring problems there &
possibly a switch issue

Remove the battery cables

It can't be used at all, until
resolved or you burn it down

Have to have it towed, if you can't
do the work

Won't start

Sounds like a blown ignition switch. check all fuses first then looks like you may be replacing a switch. BUT it comes as two different pieces. A mechanical lock cylinder and the electrical pigtail that mounts to the back. You will be replacing the electrical pigtail for the ignition switch

I have the exact make, model, year in the repair shop right now with the same symptoms. Horrible screeching noise after starting the vehicle, and smoke coming from the ignition area. Most likely it is a short in the ignition switch. It could have also affected the starter module but I would start with the ignition switch.

Smoke coming out of back of steering wheel no

I would guess that the most likely suspect is the ignition switch,,,not the lock, but the electrical switch. Most can be bought for less than $40, and not too hard to change. if you can get one.

Smoke and Flames

hello i dont think you will need a tranny your ignition system is tied into a few different areas in your harness from what your explaining the ignition contacts cross each other creating a short, safety neutral switch mounted at tranny ,starter, wich would run thru system blowing out fusebile links that are tied into the harness most likely near your starter ,goodluck please rate
