Yes, I experienced the same thing with mine... you have to losen the 2 motor mounts on that side and lift the motor up about 3 ". I worked at a garage so I had access to an engine hoist. Try using a jack from underneath. Nice engineering from Mazda!!!

My 1999 mazda 626 lx will not start, battery is good, it does nothing when i turn on .

There is a Neutral Safety Switch at the gear shifter. If this switch is broken, it will cause a open loop to check it it is in PARK position so no current can go to the starter, therefore it does nothing when it is turned on.

this is an indication that a fault exists in the transmission, u will need to have Mazda test the computer for the trouble code that is set with this light flashing.
